Scoota G Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 This is a classic case of a Zed that's had a reasonable looking body but has been hiding a lot underneath. Unless you have some emotional attachment to this shell i would say that having the repairs done properly would exceed the cost of finding a shell in good condition. I know it's not what any Zed owner wants to here but rust repairs on this shell could go up to $2000. Nearly all of the panels would need to be hand fabricated and take close to 2 Months to complete. I think if you're going to spend over $1200 on rust repairs on a 2+2 unless you're really Die Hard then look elsewhere. That fella in Lancefield had a few Buses there that were a lot better than this example. Perhaps i'm trying not to hurt the fella's feelings. Quote

Might as well have a go at it yourself since you have already spent some time stripping it down to bare metal and if all else fails just fill it with bog and do a rattle can paint job on it. Quote

Cheers for all the advice, I have decided to give it a go and see how I go, I have a couple of mates who are happy to help me out, and have a mig welder I can use for the project. I guess I just wanna finish this one off, cause other than those spots its still a pretty nice car, and I guess its gonna cost heaps more to get a shell that doesnt have the same issues. Quote
