I saw this pic zed24t posted in the galleries and it got me wondering about the chrome rimmed headlight covers. I wonder if they were part of the initial desgn and got cut to reduce cost and offered as an option. Interesting photo.

That front guard looks quite different to the production car. Never seen hubcaps like that before either!?

Yes, that's exactly what happened.

Alfadog is on the money there....just finished reading an article in Nostalgic hero by the designer.......they were cut from the design for two reasons:

-reducing cost

-headlight covers did not conform to the US laws of the time.

as a result they were offered as an option in the Japanese market.

Anyway, just thought that might be of interest.

Those wheel arches are a hell of a lot bigger than what they ended up being, I actually like the bigger arches almost gives it a Maseratti look with the side grille in the guard as well.

Actually those hubcaps look like their from the Nissan Silvia CSP311?

Lynton 8)

Nope there not. But by coincidence when Nissan took a 240Z over to Canada for Cold weather testing in '69 before they went on sale, they had Silvia hubcaps on it.
