hello,

Ive been rubbing down my 260z and i am stuck on a colors for the respray.

its current color is the factory light blue, but it is all bubbled and rusted.

I really don't know what to get!!!!

lots of people keep telling me to stick to the original color but im not too sure...

What do you think?????

It's the million dollar question. I narrowed it down to 3 possibilities which I wrote on a board, whenever I thought about it and decided on a colour I put a mark against whatever colour I had decided on, I think it took 6 months or more, but I ended up with one which was considerably ahead of the others so that's the colour I'm going.  :)

I'll go with Mick, if you can't decide on anything which looks 'better' than what you have at the moment, then maybe leave it original.

true.. i still have a fair time to think about it but Ive been looking at British racing greens to Ferrari yellows..... i just don't know.

i guess i have around 4 weeks to decide.

As has been said, its a personal choice.

my personal opinion is that Zed's look good in White, silver, blue, red, gunmetal or black (if you have to bodywork to pull it off)

Im not a fan of green, yellow, brown, mustard, lime or orange but others are, and they can make some very nice looking cars in those colors.

keep a small notepad and pen in your car.

Keep your eyes open for any color that you think looks good and write down the make and model of the car.

Makes it easier to track down color codes later.

I did this with mine.

I had allready decided i wanted a metallic blue, and once i started i saw a nice blue on the VE commo, 350z, Mazda 3, Earlier falcons (blueprint) and finally on a Honda.

Now its getting done in Honda Electron Blue pearl.

You should also look through people project galleries both here and on Hybridz to get an idea of what they look like in different colours.

Is it a 2+2 or a 2 seater.?

Modified or not?

The above two could be a deciding factor and yes as we all know it's a lot harder to change colors if it's not a complete (or nearly complete) strip down and rebuild!

just no more silver cars....we must have 900+ silver cars on here ! :P

for the 2+2 I'd "personally" keep away from dark colours...

I just spotted a new 2012 falcon XR6 with the most gorgeous "french-type" blue...

Go for a walk through a busy shopping centre on a Saturday morning and see if anything catches your eye

I'm a firm believer in individuality, do what you want to do..... ;)

This is the best idea.  Also car yards can be good.  Once you decide on the colour, then come the shade and the hue  :o

I chose my colour and then wandered from the VW yard to the Porche yard to the mazda yard - I even spent a bit of time in the toyota and hyundai yards - until I think I've settled on something from the Mini yard (I spent ages tossing up between the mini colour and a BMW colour until it finally dawned on me that they were the same colour .. Doh)

The advantage with the car yards, is the slicked hair salesman will open the bonnet for you and you can get the colour code!!

maygz your a genius! I'm going to do that. i went on a capri cruse the other day and saw some mental colours. i promise you now it won't be silver or white!

I reckon stick with the factory light blue, it is a great looking color and changes quite a bit with the light conditions. As has been said, if you do not totally redo it then it is easy to tell it is a respray. I may be slightly biased however - I have the light blue and am respraying it this color. ;D
