Retro Z Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Good work!!. I will be monotoring this thread Quote
Retro Z Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Wow been a while since an update. Nice work but with the floorpans? i would throw them all to scrap and get new ones. The amount of time you save with a new section is incredible. I agree with Scoota. Get new floor pans. Not only are they of a thicker stronger guage steel they won't be as prone to rusting like the factory datsun metal and will also be easier to install. Just hold onto the seat mounts if you do. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 5, 2012 Administrators Posted December 5, 2012 Those tail light lenses are in really good condition mate, I bought some spares that are in very rough shape. Those should come up a treat with a good polish and re-chrome the trim around them. Quote
Brabham Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 260Z floors look different to the 240Z. If they are, it may be better to get the replacements. The other option is to get the donor sections blasted before welding them in. Cheers. Quote
thriller Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 Yep the floors are definitely different, and the rails extend the whole floorpan. What I might do is get replacement sections, fit them up, and use the donor shell sections to mate the two, as my shell has probably rusted past where the new section goes... We'll see. Going to weld in some temporary support bracing before I cut the floors, and I think while the floors are out I'll re-do the dogleg sections as that way I can get to it from both sides quite easily. Passenger side should probably be completely refabricated :-\ will post pics once I get started properly there. Want to get the cressida rust out of the way first though. Quote
Brabham Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 Yep good idea use the replacement sections as much as possible since floors are different and maybe the donor where there is no floor Quote
