Is it normal for a half shaft to just fall out as if nothing is holding it in? I have never had one apart so i am un sure what holds them in. but i have never seen one just fall apart like this one

There should be a locking ring on the end of the shaft, there is a machined groove just before the end of the axle where it sits. (part no. 18)

This matches in with the spider gear in the diff centre to locate and retain the axle spline in the correct depth/position.

Sometimes they get worn out and compressed right in, allowing the axle to come loose easily. Bending it out slightly to give it some tension is a suitable fix, however replacing it is a lot smarter.

Any driveshaft workshop should have boxes of them, you'll probably find that nissan used the same size retainer ring on 90% of its cars for the last 30 years.

I wouldnt expect to pay more than a dollar or 2 for one.

The parts are starting to arrive slowly.

Front spoiler is care of Allzparts and I managed to get some triples :) complete with manifold, trumpets, filters and linkages

I'm just in the process of cleaning all the suspension bits and repainting, thanks to Mick for taking everything out.

All I have to do now is to figure out how to get my engine off the trailer on to the engine stand with out using a engine crane or any other lifting device,

I may have to macgyver up some sort of awesome machine, ----- que the theme music....

Thinking of jacking up the trailer to match the engine stand height, how could that end badly

Looks great, that beading looks good too.

Glad to see they fitted well, amazing what you can do when you know how..

Are they the same width as yours Mick?

It that good or bad?

Bought them from a nice guy called Colin in Queensland

My old one's were a set of 40MM DHLA "G's" on a polished Lynx Manifold with alloy trumpets but i think yours are on a cannon manifold. They were an excellent set of carbies with no broken bits and good quality linkages, i know they were sold and sold and sold again.

My new babies have arrived all three of them :-)

Gonna to make the wife sleep in the lounge tonight, these are coming to bed with me..

Thinking some nice mood lighting, silk sheets, some candles and some hot sexual oil and lets see what happens, no pressure..

Nice to see someone else in Adelaide building up a 2+2. With Mick on the case, it'll be bright green in no time :P

I'm having the same problem with my garage and space issues. A kit car and a Zed in the midst of interior work is not a good way to keep the place tidy. If any of the little trim bits go missing while you're ripping stuff out let me know. I bought a box of door latches, etc a while back and am happy to help you out if I can.

Nice webbers too.

I can help with the vents, but not with the switches. Not only do none of mine work, they never got replaced when I took the console out not long ago.

Magill/Norton Summit area.
