dat2kman Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Gee, but not one Zed entered, but coming down from Qld is the most iconic rally car in Australian history, the Datsun 120Y ( ex George Fury), it is running at front of field, in the 120 car event. Now fitted with the original spec cams, to give it more low to mid range stump pulling torque, matched to the gloriuos top end of 9000 rpm FJ24 goodness, it will be the best sounding thing in the forests around Lakes Entrance, since the woodchippets wre kicked out! MaygZ Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 If you are looking for somewhere to stay give me a call (PM). This is all in MY part of the world. Really, not a single Zed? That's disappointing, but I'm sure there will be plenty of others to make the trip down. I've driven many of the roads of the competitive stages and they are some fun roads. It should be a great event. MaygZ Quote
bluerat Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Jessie R is running his boxy Datsun this year not his 240Z and I just heard the trick 240K from Qld and Cuthberts 200b have pulled out, which is a bugger. There will be a R30 from Tassie running, if actepted.... Hope you dont get rounded up by a 2 door Plymouth Jase.... Quote
dat2kman Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 I reckon that a impromtu get together for a feed should occur, lurch, jane, maygz, me and any others going. Im at the rally hq at no 1 esplanade, arroving wednesday arvo. You giys are well familiar with food joints in the afea, and best of all i am on a strict sea food diet,,,,,, i see food, and i eat it ! Bluerat, give the lebos at swift and shift a ring, and get your ass there ! dat2kman Posted November 8, 2011 Author Posted November 8, 2011 My bad, thete will be a rally Zed there, Rob Devenish has offerdd to run as car Zero, to ensure all controls and officisls are readty to go, for tje main field, Rob will be approx 20 minutes in front, with a little cute old Datsun 120 running rear gunner just behind him! Now lets see, do the rules allow overtaking slow old Z cars? Quote

DAZDA Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I entered in 2009 (the Alpine only runs every two years) but was a DNS (Did Not Start) due to a still-born race engine (damn engine builder - no it wasn't me). I ended up spectating since I'd already paid for my accommodation. Some of the best spectating I've ever done!! Anyway, this year unfortunately I can't make it. So please enjoy it for me Jason!! May the sounds of the FJ24 120Y ring long into the Vic forests!!! Quote

dat2kman Posted December 3, 2011 Author Posted December 3, 2011 wot, who me?? nah, musta been some other fj24 engined 120Y there! We had a ball, ran as Zero car on a few stages, did media day, had cars parked at various places, for display Yes Hodgo, Sat was very slidey, in car vid shows conditions, what i am surprised about was the amount of cars falling over, mind you as Zero, the road is in good cond. Sunday was very nice, I put Simon Brown into it, as he was 30 years ago, ran stage 23, gave it a couple of rips, but the trees come up to close to edge of road, Devenish ran Zero with us, he has put vids on youtube. Someone filmed a donut maker at the speccy point in stage 23 linky here had a jolly fine time with Lurch, Calamity, Peter Mc, Alex, at various places, and got good and dirty too! all talk mind you, all talk!!
