My friend is currently selling his 1981 Delorean DMC-12. Attached is some info that he's typed up about it and posted on another forum...

I bought her back in 2007 and personally imported it from the US. She landed January 2009 and ever since I have been spending my spare time on her as a project car. A large amount of mechanical/restoration work was undertaken before she left the US. Once here, I continued the restoration myself and have spent many, many hours and $ getting her the way she is today.

The main features of this car are the gullwing doors and the stainless steel panels.

Some major jobs that have been done since I've acquired the car is the bumpers being repaired and re-sprayed and the dash & binnacle being re-wrapped (eliminating the cracks and making it look factory and brand new). I have installed a custom sound system which can easily be reversed. I'd made up a new backboard and mounted 6x9 Pioneers in the rear, with 4" Alpines in the front. Behind the driver's seat is an amp running a 10" sub (on a new piece, so again it can be removed and replaced with the original interior part still obtained) and is operated by a Pioneer head unit - all tastefully done in my opinion.

The car has been lowered from the factory height, giving it the true sports/exotic car look. Also, the wheels have been painted a lighter silver over the original grey finish, which makes them stand out more and always look great.

I take her out about once a month (would rather to more often) and she currently has 32,000miles on the clock. It has a 5sp manual transmission attached to the PRV-6 engine and although it doesn't have neck snapping performance, it's a true cruiser and turns every head along the way too.

To answer some questions before you ask...Yes, it does have a Flux Capacitor, but it doesn't come with the car and I have never hit 88mph in her, so I'm not sure if this one can go through time.

If you (or even someone you know) are looking for something different and unique, you can't go past a car like this.

Serious enquiries only please.

Asking price: $55,000

Saw one of these at Highpoint Shopping centre back in 1982 from memory, it was in a raffle and was parked on display, always thought it was pretty cool, even more so when I saw back to the future the first time.

And $55,000 is a great buyers price, maybe a shot on Ebay would be the go, never know the WWW and all it's users is bound to turn up some interested buyers.

But alas, with the price of fuel and electricity these days and the need to generate "The Sucker's" electrical requirements to kick over the Flux capacitor which from memory needs 1.21 gigawatts, I'm thinking that any buyer would need to invest in a Mr Fusion home energy reactor.
