Does anyone know if an 1973 240Z Rear Demister has horizontal or vertical lines. I am fairly sure they were horizontal, can anyone confirm this.

Cheers,

Aaron

Early zeds had vertical, US spec '73 had horizontal.

My '73 had no demister, I am guessing this was standard as my car was purchased from the original owner.

Were rear demisters an option on Aus spec cars ??? Connectors are in the rear wiring.

My 70 has nothing, but US spec ones did come with a demister. Not sure of other market cars. 260 2 seaters came with them also.

my 72 with S1 vented hatch has vertical demisters lines. is it a 72 glass on 70 hatch or 70 hatch and glass? beats me. maybe need to see the glass in more detail if any date codes on it.

the 70 one I got doesn't have a demister at all. has a plug provision but no switch in dash like the 72.

wasn't demister (vertical ) optional on early cars and than were standard in later model cars. not sure if the ones in later cars were vertical or horizontal

personally I think vertical ones look cooler.  8)

If a '73 had a rear defroster, they would be horizontal lines.

Only the '70 and if I remember correctly early '71 had the vertical lines.

My '73, a US spec, has horizontal lines, FWIW.

demister was an option in Oz spec'd 240z - infact most RHD markets it was an option. Going by the parts catalogue up to 12/71 were all the same lines then the change to the Horizontal kicked in. What is interesting in the parts catalogue is the option for the Oz cars does not state which years it applies too and it has a different part number to the europe and exc europe models - typical you ozzies have to be special lol. What is interesting is this same part number applies to the Australian 260z 2 seater also - so I guess the partnumber is to show it is from a different supplier aka a local supplier in this case would be my guess. FYI this Australian glass is listed a 5.0mm thick vs the 4.0mm for the other partnumbers

Must be to deal with the huge temperature extremes; from 38'C to 15'C in one day! Still remember when that happened!
