acf321 Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2147979.htm this is very cool. I wonder how they got 400hp?? Quote
salty Posted April 2, 2011 Posted April 2, 2011 if this is the first 240Z imported into the USA, how come it has 260Z tailights? you would think they would have stayed with the 240's? originality Quote

260DET Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 It's a race car, my guess is that there is not much of the original car left at all. It's been for sale for a while, big big $ IIRC, yeh the 400hp dyno sheet would be interesting. With the Aussie $ the way it is could be a proposition here Quote
PZG302 Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 If you could get the budget together to run the car would certainly stir the pot if you got it logged and cod for Historic Group T. Would certainly give a certain Sports 2000 a run for it's money. Quote
NZeder Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 My guess for the 260z tail lights would be same as some of the Nissan Works Zed that were infact 240z work shells that had 260z tail lights to make it look like a 260z so they could install 260z homologated parts ie larger engines, different diff ratios that were then included in the FIA papers etc. That would be my best guess for the change in lights - but then it might also had a rear shunt and 260z/280z parts were more common - anything is possible some 40 years later. Now I got a choice to make Either a 2010ex Nismo r35gtr full race car at 12 million yens, or this!! With our pacific peso doing so nice to the usdolla, it is tempting, although I reckon the jp figure is on shootout mode on that dyno Ahem Quote

Don't need to worry about tail light shapes, the 240 shell was homologated to use L24, L26 and L28 blocks and all the associated running gear, ie gearboxes, 4 and 5 speed versions with a selection of gearset ratios and going from the R180 to R200 diff and about ten different diff ratios. chev z Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Those are the guards I'm attempting to get bonded on at the moment Will definately need wider rims, to fill guards out properly, when I can afford them Quote
chev z Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 If you scroll down and open the Canepa webb site , checkout the other photos especially of the frontend Can anyone tell me what the front end additional control arm would be for on this race car i.e. the forward arm. I was thinking added strenght under braking or just to keep the frontend in alignment under brakes and cornering Any thoughts / ideas ? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted April 6, 2011 Moderators Posted April 6, 2011 Looks like a anti roll bar to me... its connected with rod ends to the fron arm. Quote
chev z Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 Thanks Dimitri, should have realised that , I think the dimensions and being of box section thru me of. I suppose making the arm from box would save on some weight as opposed to a solid bar Quote
Zeddophile Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2147979.htm this is very cool. I wonder how they got 400hp?? I'm guessing custom crankshaft to withstand very high rpm is the start of the secret... Quote
