can someone tell me how I can get to the tranny fluid?

If its the same as a 280zx, you just undo the drainer plug at the bottom of the tranny, let it all flow out, check for metal fileings to check for tranny wear. do that plug up once it drains and then the filler plug is on the passenger side of the tranny. i had to use a plumberes wrench to get that one undone. and you fill till it's about to come out the filler hole.

I think thats correct!

I suggest getting your hands on a Haynes manual if you haven't got one already, very handy indeed.

Yea may have one of these carbon fibre front brace for you with an asst of brackets aswell as the stock ones for the l-series probly after the 200$ mark, but in adelaide.

also have the rear but have a chev installed and when i go efi i cant use the existing bar. but depending on the offer you could have a matching pair, although you have the cage back there.

I'm after maybe a Nismo or Cusco one.........sorry only looked on ebay after I posted. The carbon fibre ones don't look stiff enough. And as you say I'd only be needing the front bar.

BTW, is it normal to have a 3" exhaust system on a stock motor? I just realised that the exhaust is HUGE.........I'm sure it's 3". It's still very torquey down low, though up top end past 5,000rpm power drops off quite a fair bit.

2 1/2" inch is a pretty average size for people to install on these cars. I initially installed extractors through to a 2 1/2" inch pipe followed by a straight through 3" muffler, one of those big ones a cat could crawl into. I soon realised appart from looking pretty stupid it was way to loud and I found the bottom end sub 3000rpm was terrible with no torque. The resonation on the freeway in the car at 100km/hr was also quite bad. I added one of those baffles or "hotdogs" as some call em between the muffler and extractors which helped but still very loud. I then removed the ricer fart can and got a nice flowing muffler wit about a 2 1/2" inch dump pipe to reduce fumes into the back. From memory the guy called it a "turbo flow" muffler, (not sure if that is some sort of propritry name or type of exhaust), thats still flows quite nicely but sounds tough at lower revs and great at higher revs.

Odd though based on your comment on power, the most impressive part was how much more bottom end power was available after giving it a little bit of restriction with the later set up.

No your right....I just jacked up the car to find the tranny fluid exit/entry holes and noticed that the headers go into a 2.5" pipe.....then into a hotdog and comes out the other end at 3"....the muffler looks like a stock'ish looking Z muffler. Doh......should have taken a pic.

This cars way too big to get under it easily. Doesn't help that I'm using a very small jack. Looking forward to popping over to my cousin who has a whole car hoist.

So funny......I was under there for a few minutes trying to find a suitable jacking point. Simple things you take for granted having the same car since I got my license

Is there any reason why theres not a decen't website for NSW Z owners?

Is there any reason why theres not a decen't website for NSW Z owners?

Yep because I haven't built one :). Have you been here? http://www.zcarclub.com.au/

Really Viczcar started in Victoria but it has become an Australasian Zcar website not just a Victorian one.

The problem is the time required to maintain such a website. There are a thousand things I'd still like to do with this website but just haven't had the time to do it yet.

The other problem is money, currently Toecutter (Sulio) and I fund the website and hosting on our own. When the website is changed (which will happen soonish) I will be offering banner advertising for any businesses that wish to advertise on the website. Hopefully that will fund the site, but I don't expect to make much money simply because Zcar owners are generally broke and unlike Silvia forums or Skyline forums where the owners are in abundance we simply don't have a huge captive audience.

Sorry if it seems like a rant, but it's just how it is. I'm glad we have a resource like this and it's been great seeing new members sign up, previously Zcar owners were few and far between now we have a common meeting place.

Anyway we shall see where the new year takes us :).
