Yes , I went to Sandown with them, plenty of track time, only 45 cars for the day, 15 cars at a time on the track. You get an instructor if you want for as many laps as you need. I had Dean Canto but I had no idea who he was until one of the blokes told me later!! Lunch is provided in the price Good Value for the days racing.

It feels a bit different to the normal club sprints not as much pressure if you know what I mean maybe not as many ego's on show..  Jim

I think any driver training is a gret thing.

I tagged along to an AFP training day, much info to learn. emergency stopping with blown tyre, reversing, oh and skid pan time!

Ya'll need to pay yourselves.

May need to hurry as an email just went around to all the car clubs with the $300 special.

I just paid my deposit for April 23rd.  ;D

Has anyone else signed up for this?

I've just realized that April 23rd is Easter weekend.

Trying to contact them now about options as the only other date is the 26th of March and my car will be at the GP.

Great, but I think our cars are somewhat in different classes!

You'll get great value for money, 2 laps for my 1  :D

Well, the last driver training I did with them the instructor said to me that I need to trust myself more through the fast kink in the back straight.

Unfortunately the trust just wasn't there so I'm going back for some more one on one counseling to develop that trust.

cheers,

Sinisha

3 Z's were entered to this today.

Sinisha, Mark Stables and Myself.

Very uneventful day for me today. Car wasn't running quite right from the first session.

I noticed the oil temp was VERY hot and the pressure was down a bit. So I took it into the pits to try and find the problem. Apart from the battery playing up, think the heat killed it, nothing obvious could be found.

So out we went for the second session. I thought I'd take it easy, just to gain some confidence in the car for a few laps. As I turned in to the sweeper after the back straight, I heard a bit of a rattle then  someone removed the track and put an ice rink there coz I spun quicker than I'd ever spun before. All I could see was the Armco getting closer while traveling way too fast backwards. Luckily I stopped in a safe position on the track, that's when I saw the smoke come out of the engine bay. Quickly turned the car off and waited for a tow vehicle.

Got back to pits and had a look for the problem. Nothing really stood out though. So packed up and played spectator for the rest of the day.

After lunch, the day improved for me as we had a passenger session.

So I strapped myself in to Sinisha's red rocket.

Holly crap!

That thing is wild!

A real credit to him as it is the fastest car and ride I've ever been in. I've taken some video, but it's soo shaky and doesn't reflect or give a true indication of how fast it really is.

After the roller coaster ride I called a tow truck to go home and called Peter Mac to see what he thought. From the info I gave him, he confirmed my fear of doing a main big end bearing.

So this new engine that I was slowly building just got a whole lot more urgent. Definitely putting a girdle, AZcar slum sump and an ATI balancer on it!

Bad luck to you Simon. Hopefully you can get your new engine finished and get back out there. What sort of lap times did the three of the zed guys get. I heard on the grape vine Mark got a lot of Arazona zed stuff fitted to his nice green zed.

The grape vine is right again!

Mark has the Arizona bits, he also had Centreline suspension do some work on his car and is very happy with the result.

Officially there is no timing allowed during these driver training days but...

According to my GPS lap timer the best lap I did was a 1:21.5 which is OK as my tyres have lost some of their stickiness after sitting in the garage for over a year.

Just incase anyone missed it.

Sinisha's car is mental!

Peter will be here tomorrow night to tell me how buggered Frankenstein is.

When I get time, I'll edit a dodgy video of the day. I managed to delete some footage too, not happy. Footage of my face while in the red rocket somehow has disappeared, shame coz it was funny. I literally giggled like a schoolgirl and lost all colour in my face.

Marks car went quite well and has a nice growl to it.

Hey Simon sorry to hear about the incident.

At least you made it without doing more damage to the car as in colliding with something or someone.

But theres always a silver lining I guess, new improved motor on its way!

Sinisha,

That's brilliant, but I would have hated to think what would have happened to the 911 driver if those windscreen wipers had come off at that speed and hurtled towards his screen LMAO

It would have been the second shock he had for the day, Damn that Zed's quick and hell he carries munitions.
