Jk_zeder Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 UPDATE AS OF FEB 25th 2011 Well we are committed to this event as money was put on the table today. Lakeside is booked for May 21. The programme for the day will be as follows Breakfast from 7.15am to 8.15 am, Happy laps from 8.15am to 8.45am. This is separate from LAPZ 2011 and is $20 per person. Private Practice and Drivers Briefing from 9.00am to 12.30 pm Sprints from 1.00pm to 4.30pm , Looks as if we may have a large number of spectators from other Jap clubs present at this event. Entry forms will be available soon . LapZ at the Lake 2011 - Expressions of Interest Saturday - May 21st 2011 Firstly, Thank you again for your support at last year’s event. Lakeside is undoubtedly one of the best racing tracks in Australia. This year will see the Z Car Club Qld running another “LapZ at the Lake”. With your help and support we want to make it bigger and better. This year we will have the track to ourselves. We will be running our own Open sprint session at Lakeside Raceway on Saturday May 21st 2011 separate to any of Lakeside's normal sprint sessions. As some of you may already know, QR/Lakeside have changed their pricing structures and sprint format. It now consists of only 3 sessions of 5 lap sprints in the afternoon with practice, at an extra cost, in the morning. The cost for this through QR/Lakeside is $145 for a street sprint plus $60 for practice or $175 for an open sprint plus $60 for practice and Track Attack charges a similar amount. That’s over $200. This Year for LapZ we intend to have practice in the morning from around 9 to 12 (untimed) and have 3 sessions of 5 lap timed sprints in the afternoon. Practice will more than likely be in our groups and will be untimed laps. It will probably be 2 sessions of about 4 laps, but this is yet to be confirmed! Hopefully you will actually get more track time than last year with this format. We will be running 5 or 6 groups with a maximum of 15 cars in each group (instead of 20 last year) which means a bit more room on the track this time. We will be charging around $160 per entry (yet to be confirmed) which includes carport hire, practice and sprints. As you can see the price will be a bit more than last time but still much cheaper than what QR/Lakeside or Track Attack would normally charge you. Once again we will try and keep this as cheap as possible so you can enjoy some good value, club based motorsport. License fees are not included in any of the prices listed above. -- Annual AASA Clubman Licence $55.00 -- AASA Clubman Day Licence $20.00 This event is open to everyone with all makes and models but, as we are the Z Car Club of Queensland, we would like to see lots of zeds and Japanese manufactured cars there again. (please do not be discouraged if you are not running a zed. We will accept all makes and models) I have just watched the DVD from last year’s event (which I highly recommend you purchase - it shows all cars in the film with drivers names – looks great – really well done) and it really did make the hairs stand up on the back of my neck to see so many zeds in the one place at the one time. This will be first in best dressed. We can only accept up to 90 entries. I will keep a few names as reserves if someone can’t make it. Acceptance of entries will be at the organizing committee’s discretion. From what I have been told last year’s LapZ had the most zeds ever seen at an event in Qld … so be a part of history again and join the fun. This event is open to all ZCCQ members and invited guests and is intended to be a social track day not a competition race day… FUN is the objective !!!! For those who have never raced before… A lot of us spend quite a few weekends a year racing our cars and have a lot of fun doing it but now we have a chance for YOU first timers (that may have been thinking for years that you would like to give it a go) to get out there on the track and drive your cars at whatever pace you are comfortable with. Having 5 or 6 groups will enable us to have cars entered with 2 drivers (if you need to share a car) and also to put slower cars and inexperienced track drivers in a separate group to the full race cars so there is no pressure on you at all. We will also try to have a couple of our more experienced racing drivers in the group in your practice sessions so you can follow them around to improve your skills and many of us will be on hand to answer any questions or help in any way throughout the day. This year there will also be an early morning Breakfast session for people who do not want to compete in the main event and just want to run their cars around the track at a controlled speed. A quick description - $20 will get you a cooked breakfast and 30 minute to drive around the track in your registered car with a passenger at a controlled speed (no helmets). This will be a good chance to take friends. Only people who paid for breakfast will be allowed in the cars. Numbers will be limited !!! More details will be available shortly! Please email me with expressions of interest duz@tpg.com.au …. Or send him a text on 0405 124 045 Also it would be appreciated if you could shoot me an email if you definitely can’t make it. Entry forms will be available in early March. Entries will close around before the end of April.. (Date to be decided) Anyone on this email list that would like to be removed from the list please let me know. Feel free to pass this onto a friend The more entries we get the cheaper we can make it!!! Quote
. Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I'm keen. Already Emailed my interest to Dusty. Quote
dat2kman Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Due to poplarity of the 2010 event this will be sure to fill up fast. get your details into Dusty marshall ASAP. All are welcome, you do not need a full on track car, those that attended last year had a great time! There is no pressure to join the Z club or be a member of Z club Qld , just come along enjoy the day, get to meet plenty of Z owners and see their cars up close in the pits, and on the track! Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 I think a trip to QLD might be in order... Email sent. Quote
ZeeVeePee Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 Already have 17 people on the list .... Better get in Quick :-) Quote
PZG302 Posted February 14, 2011 Posted February 14, 2011 The green monster will be back, already have email in and it will be a nice shakedown for round 3 of the Prod Sports Championship a couple of weeks later. Will hopefully be trialling some new aero thanks to another member here. Might need a mk1 esky sploiler modified Gav to see which of the three work best..... Quote
be-zed Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 This event is not an attempt to take anything away from the Sydney Nissan /Datsun nationals a month earlier. It just turned out that that Saturday in May(21) is the only date that suits a lot of the Queensland Z club people and Lakeside is popular . So there may not be to many Z s from QLD going to the Nats at Easter. Most want to be part of this event and after a look at the LAPZ 2010 DVD you can see why! Quote

mtopxsecret6 Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 I've sent an email through to enter aswell. I haven't hit lake side yet, so this should be exciting. Quote
tir33d Posted February 20, 2011 Posted February 20, 2011 Damn, I think I am in NZ for this. Would have loved to do Lakeside with you fellas, hope you have a good time. Quote
260DET Posted February 23, 2011 Posted February 23, 2011 Pity, more 280ZX's needed. Lots of EOI's coming in from all over, some from newbies, it will be good for them because they can use morning practice to get used to it all. Quote
tir33d Posted February 25, 2011 Posted February 25, 2011 Due to the events of the last few days in NZ my conference over there has been cancelled. I would be honoured / love / beg to attend this meet. Give the ole 280zx a run and maybe give some of you boys a scare. Unlike many Z owners (and I am not being rude here) I am happy to share the joy and let others have a go also. I think Lurch may want to have a go on his wheels he sold me anyway. Be great to catch up with some of you. Quote

1600dave Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Any recommendations for accomodation nearby ? Cheap-ish but half decent motels for a family of 4 ? Or caravan park with cabins / onsite vans ? Preferably with plenty of parking room for a car trailer Quote
. Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 There is a Motel on Gympie rd at Petrie. I haven't seen inside by it looks cheap from the outside. Quote
260DET Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Kallangur and Petrie would be the closest for accomodation, there is a motel at Aspley still I think but thats 15 minutes further away. Best idea is to search online, us locals don't use motels much Quote
1600dave Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Yeah, fair point - I probably wouldn't be able to recommend a motel in Newcastle either. A certain forum member generously offered accomodation, but I wouldn't want to dump my kids on anyone Quote
be-zed Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Just a thought. If funds were available and I am not saying they are. What kind of memorabilia for LAPZ 2011 should we get. Quote
ZeeVeePee Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 Hi All Entry forms for LapZ at the Lake 2011 will be available next week. Anyone who has contacted me and given me an email address will receive an entry form and further information via email. Entry forms will also be available at www.zcarclubq.org.au I have had about 75 expressions of interest so far. History tells me not all people who express interst will enter the event. BUT... we will have a lot of people enter that did not express interest.... So enter quickly when forms become available. Anyone still wanting to register their interest can email me (Dusty) on duz@tpg.com.au Quote
