Daedalus-Z Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Hi Guys, I've been lurking around for a while now, but there didn't seem a lot of point in introducing myself until I'd managed to actually find a Zed of the correct age group (I've actually owned a Z31 and a Z32, but they don't count ). I'd been looking for a suitable candidate for a few years now, but they're becoming pretty hard to find! At any rate I managed to find a '75 260z 2 seater for a non-ridiculous sum and now that I've convinced my camera to work with my computer I can actually post something! Apparently the bloke I brought the 260 off had it in his shed for 7 years as a project car... but never got it on the road. Honestly I can't see seven years of work on her! He appears to have resprayed the car himself (There'd be less orange peel at the Daily Juice factory!) and that's about it. Oddly, though he had painted the outside, he hadn't attended to any of the rust in the floor pans or the tire well :S Crazy. I've also discovered that the fuel tank was completely clogged with varnish, I imagine it was fuel once, in a previous lifetime. OK, enough talk, here are some car pictures! Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 2, 2011 Moderators Posted January 2, 2011 Welcome to the forums... and looks like you picked up a nice car to start with. As long as it's complete, that will save you a few headaches. If you can, start a build thread to keep a record of the rebuild. Helps others do what you plan on doing. Hope we can help along the way. handsandwhich Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Hi and welcome. "At any rate I managed to find a '75 260z 2 seater for a non-ridiculous sum" I like this line. Fun times ahead getting her on the road! Quote
C.A.R. Posted January 2, 2011 Posted January 2, 2011 Welcome. How/why/where & when did you find it? Quote
Daedalus-Z Posted January 3, 2011 Author Posted January 3, 2011 Thanks Guys. She's mostly complete, but was ridiculously dirty inside (as well as rusty) and the previous owner apparently didn't understand the concept of masking so there is over-spray everywhere, even on the dash Found her a couple of months ago on eBay and decided to take a risk and buy her after having a bit of a chat with the owner. (Who for all I curse his name was actually a nice guy) The car was in Canberra, so I drove up with a trailer and brought her back down. Why? I'd imagine it's much the same reason as most other people, I really like the early zeds, they've fun to work on and I like a good project. The Z32 by comparison is a nightmare to work on... Quote
xa1973 Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Welcome... Enjoy the fun house..... any chance of telling us what she cost? Quote
Scoota G Posted January 3, 2011 Posted January 3, 2011 Welcome. I think this one was around the 7 mark from memory. Are you regional Daedalus-Z or Melbourne based? There's a few of us out in Ballarat. Quote
Daedalus-Z Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 Scooter's right on the money, a bit under 7 grand. I'll go with regional; I live in the Ballarat, though I do often drive down to melbs for work. I got the impression there were a few members in the rat, plus seeing the odd zed driving around is a bit of a give away Quote
dalee Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Hi Daedalus Welcome to the site, there are 5 of us from the Rat hanging around on the forum. Some with working cars and some without! Quote
FuzzyDropbear Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Welcome Daedalus, good to see another Z has come to the rat. Some with working cars and some without! Hey, hey, mine works... kinda... When Scoota hides under the bonnet and makes flutter noises Quote
Scoota G Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Well i think we'll have to have a mini Ballarat Club meet, the photo you put up just looked like Ballarat, trees, blue sky, dirt Lol. I have the Green Zed with the Midnight Black bonnet. I'm in doveton st. Quote
