I wasn't sure where else to post? ???

I couldn't find the vendor forum. It is a cool kit, most people are very interested by it. Thought I'd post it up here for you guys to check out.

Let me know if there is another section I should post this in.

Thanks!

Still awaiting the Classics Ben. Any more news on how long till they arrive?

By the way, there is a kind of vendor forum, but it only has Otomoto in it. It is the Auszcar sponsors forum.

But you have a part for sale, so I don't see why it cant go in this section of the forum. Only difference is you have several of them for sale.

The classics are in a sort of limbo right now. We cannot agree on pricing etc.

I have lots of moderns that I need to sell to continue funding the classic's work but its coming along.

If you want to email me your email address, I'll add you to the waiting list and let you know as soon as I begin taking orders.

Posted

I'll let it stay for the moment, pending on what Gav thinks.

In either case, if this is going to be an 'on going' sale then some $ kicked towards the forum, would be asked.

Hmm...are the projectors available on their own? and what type (base) of globe do they use? D2S? Thanks

Posted

Hi,

If you are talking about retrofitting, the projectors most likely wouldn't fit in your housing. I would have to special order some smaller projectors. They are roughly $150 USD. All of my projectors are H1 (much cheaper than D2S/R HID kits).

Thanks,

Ben

Here is how the high/low beam works

Well I love the bright lights and am interested in buying them except that I'm not sure whether that protruding bulb look (eye ball?) would suit my car (I've looked at the pics on the ebay ad). I suppose there's no easy way to make it look more stock?

If anyone does purchase these I'd be very keen to see how they look on a lighter colored car, perhaps red? ;)

They can be painted to match your car or you could put some headlight covers on? The tinted covers do not really affect the light output or light pattern.

I've had a read through your hybrid z thread and I'm definitely going to buy a pair of the 'classic' set you are developing.

I would like to see you do well out of these products as that thread on hybridz shows how much effort and time you've put into developing them and getting feedback from the guys on there. I do agree with Lurch that advertising on this forum should be followed by a donation, but I don't think it would be bad if you waited until you got some sales first. I'm pretty sure you will since these products look so good.

We've had issues in the past with randoms making posts advertising things with no intention of contributing to the forum. Since your product is pretty much tailored for our cars and you're a Z owner yourself I don't think we need to worry about that.

Also since this is an Aussie forum would you be able to give a quick explanation of the little mod to switch the heights so that the opposite side is lower? (For the other forum members, this is to do with having the lights on the right hand side a little lower so they don't blind other cars, the default setting on these lights is for left hand drive cars) Is it something an amateur could do?

Wow! you read through like 15 pages?? That thread on hybrid has become way too long haha.

The classics are going to do very well but they are very very very expensive to create. Roughly $75,000 USD is what I need to get that together (plus all of the legality, patents etc). I have posted on many forums and usually there is good response but very little action. I think it would be fair to wait until I started selling some kits before I donated. I am not trying to be cheap, I just have ALOT of expenses to cover for all this. I sacrificed doing my engine rebuild for this project  :'(.  I have been doing the thread on hybrid for more than half a year and only sold 1 kit through it.

For reversing the cutoff plates, it is a fairly simple task of just taking it apart and flipping the plate.

What it looks like now

Wires come out nicely

Clears with the high beam (just a paper clip sticking up to hold the switch)

I didn't test it out if its too hot for the plastic switch on the inside. You should be able to put up a little heat guard to protect it.

Again, it doesn't look like a huge problem. If it gets really popular, I'll just have the manufacture send me a bunch of cutoff plates.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Sorry for the bad pictures, they were on a camera phone from a while back.

I think you copied the links twice? I'd be interested to see the chrome ones.

The classics on the other hand will have fluted/reflective lens that hides the projectors to look stock.

The ebay kit that you posted is all hand/custom made. All of my kits are made in a manufacture and are tested 100,000 times low/high/low/high beams. Also my manufacture makes projectors for Suzuki motorcycles and a few German car companies. Price wise, we are much cheaper because we use a assembly line as opposed to 1 by 1 handmade. The classics should be under ~$300 USD for a kit but that is not finalized yet.

Also you don't need a 50 watt kit for the Z's. The last thing we want to do is draw more power and fry our harnesses. My kits are 35 watts (plenty bright) and are directly connected to run off your battery as opposed to your stock light plug.

Let me know if you have any more questions. Also please post the chrome link if you can. My manufacture stopped making chrome lights because it is illegal to chrome in Taiwan. So you know those kits are probably made in China :)

Thankyou for the feedback

I do like the look of those hand made kits.

You could paint your light surrounds any colour you liked though? Could you not?

How hot do your surround get? Would you need to use heatproof paint?

Posted

It all depends how much you want to spend. Like I said, we will have a kit similar to those for much less money.

You could paint the light any color you want and you do not need to use high temp paint. (High temp paint actually turns white-ish after a while.) The housing does not really get hot because the projector inside is absorbing most of the heat.

so, this kit you will have similar, for much less money....  when will you have it?  and how much less money, and can i have one please..

Posted

Are we talking classics here or the black modern kits?

I only have the black kits (modern kits) at the moment. They are $400 shipped.

The classic kit has not been finalized or funded yet so it won't be available for 6-12 months at the very least. The estimated price at the moment is ~$300. Other then that we don't have too many more details about them.

i will be in touch once I ask the financial testicular controller for permission

HAHA thats the best one I've heard so far. Tell her it is for your safety and well-being...or will that not help? lol

ben you say your projectors are H1 pattern. Would you know of where there is a diagram comparing H1 to H4 etc. patterns.

I think H4 is the best for where I live, mountainous and coners everywhere.

Posted

It shouldn't matter?.... H1, H4 are just different types of bulbs. The light output is the same.

Picture4-2.jpg

Picture5-1.jpg

I personally think H1 is better then H4 because H4 has a moving part and uses 2 different bulbs (for high and low) which isn't any brighter than an H1.

The bulb doesn't produce a pattern because it is regulated by the projector and has a built in high/low switch. It's less problems to move a little flap that regulates the high/low as opposed to using a bulb that moves and uses 2 different lights.

I hope that makes sense.

Is there different projector lenses that distribute the light in different ways?

But in conventional halogen headlights the H4 lense gives more spread I am pretty sure.

I am sure I found a site years ago that explained with diagrams the different beam patterns from different lenses.
