280 Zeds being shipped to Kuwait?

A scrap metal merchant was picking up my old beer fridge, and when I backed the 280ZX out of the drive he offered to by it for someone who is shipping 280ZX (Complete cars) by the container load back to Kuwait apparently to a company called "Retro Sports" (internet search did not show anything).

I was aware of ZED cars going back to Japan, and I assumed that was because they were finally being appreciated in their country of origin, something like our old Holdens are here.

Anyone aware of this. Suppose it will ultimately push up the price for the cars but make it harder and more expensive to find spares.

Anyway he took my old rusted bonnet which I though was beyond salvage.

Apparently there is a group of Z enthusiasts in Kuwait, and going by this comment posted on this youtube link, it seems they are cashed up and big spenders in the States.

 

Looks like the cars are used for drifting considering the numerous vids postsde by "Mr Turbo" of Kuwait on youtube.

All Z Car Specialist in Ft Worth, Tx has these guys come in every few months and buy out his whole stock of Z car stuff and they ship it overseas. Sucks for us here cuz when they do come over shopping, they clean out all the good Z parts! They've got money man..lol

I've been contacted a few times by people in Kuwait wanting to buy my 240z.

 

I do know that someone who had restored a 240K sold it (or at least I believe) to someone in Dubai. Datsun's are very popular over there, especially the old 240K's for some reason.

I believe they were one of the only other countries (other than Japan) to get the 240k's badged as Skylines. I think old Datsun's are popular due to difference Nissan did in the styling department. Just look at all the different shapes and models available in the 70's

And the list goes on then there is stock family cars ie 180B sedans/wagons etc with the L series engines that just keep going - so as Datsun owners your selves you know why people want them
