BenZed Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 http://hebcf.en.alibaba.com/search/product?IndexArea=product_en&SearchText=alloy%20wheel%20japanese Trolling around I spotted this Chinese manufacturer selling 280ZX copy wheels (both designs) unfortunately the minimum order is 400 wheels... dat2kman Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 Oh come on now, thats the right size for my Group S race car, I wonder if our old China Plate will chuck in a free Bridgestone RE55 semi slick with each one??? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 28, 2010 Moderators Posted January 28, 2010 Ask them to make a copy of a Watanabe....I'm sure they are capable of that.. then 400 wheels would sell in a afternoon! Quote
BenZed Posted January 28, 2010 Author Posted January 28, 2010 I hear there's a factory in China making SSR Longchamp replicas, haven't found it yet though Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 They should copy the factory optional Fairlady Z (240Z) mag, and the works rally version. Quote

(Locky) Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 dont be cheap ..... buy genuine fakes ruin the industry ie a set of 2nd hand ssr meshies can be had for just over a grand landed 2nd hand good condition from japan why pay that for dodgy new fakes ?? Quote
lightmaster240z Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 But we Lov you long time ;D If you get them cheap Quote
Quandary Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Chinese for awhile were blatantly copying Jap and Korean cars/bikes (who in essence were and still do copy from elsewhere) for their own domestic market and smaller countries like Vietnam embrace them for their affordability and (questionable) good looks. Meanwhile noone can penetrate into the Chinese market. More recently they've started replicating high end European type luxury cars. I read Rolls Royce got upset about a Phantom copy and were pursuing it legally. Will be interesting to see where/if that goes. I haven't been to China but have been Korea and Japan often and they don't really embrace anyone else products at all for some reasons. Both very nationalistic and proud of their products, and Korea set huge taxes for imports. I absolutely love Korea but I couldn't stand living there cos their views on vehicles are depressing and maybe a bit primitive. Anyway, what I wanted to say from the start was maybe China will realise they won't easily penetrate global market with cars when they can't get into Korea and Japan. Do they need to anyway? But I reckon China could turn the auto world upside down selling parts. I would seriously consider buying "Made in China" Z parts, as long as its not for the driveline. Quote
hunterzed Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 I already have 13 of these 280zx wheels at home. Can't get rid of them. I'm sure they multiply. Quote
dat2kman Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Chines quality, be fair now, just last week her in Brisbane a three week old Great Wall 1 ton ute was loaded with a bucket and a half ( bob cat buckets I mean) approx 3/4 ton and on driving out from hardware yard area, it went over the little lip kerb/gutter, and then sorta stopped, "cos the middle of the ute was dragging on the ground. Yep tailshaft had come adfrift, chassis had bent in middle, exhaust was on ground, and she is a no go.. Gotta wonder what slag and air inclusions will be in the middle of ANY wheel that has Chinese Standards Association Manufacture stamp on it. The ones that come out of the sand casting moulds that have the airpockets and bits of slag showing on the surface will get chucked back into the big funace melting pot, along with all the wonderfull stuff that totally roots the alloying process of metals. hunterzed Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 The 'Great (piece of shiver) Wall' didn't even score half a star in the ansca ratings. lol Edit: The dual cab did actually score 1.5 stars but has a "High Risk of life-threatening injury in offset test." http://www.ancap.com.au/results/337/ Quote
NZeder Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Great Wall crash tests?? Who gives a rats we drive zeds and have you seen what happens to them in a crash? I will link a pic later when not using my phone to reply. Now back on topic BenZed have you found the SSR reps you were looking for? I think I have Anyway google axis wheels and look as the OS range (as in Old School) I like the SSR Mesh reps in 15x8 perfect for none flared zeds which mine is not Quote
. Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 wow!!! http://www.axiswheels.com/view-project/2002-nissan-350z Quote
NZeder Posted February 3, 2010 Posted February 3, 2010 Ok here is the pic of a damaged 260z 2 seater - you can see it is a late 260z via the taller strut towers. I believe the young driver of the zed was killed and this was in the late 70's early 80's here in NZ before the motorway had barriers in the middle. Here is a pic of Axis OS San rims - for the zed fitments they are only available in 15x8 0 offset (I checked with the axis wheels support) Quote
BenZed Posted February 3, 2010 Author Posted February 3, 2010 Yikes, that's not a happy picture. I didn't find the Longchamp Replicas, but I do have some crazy deep-dish wheels coming in soon in 14x6 +10 and 14x8 -5, more for Corollas really, but could suit some Zeds Quote
