A budget is always good to post; helps us point you in the right direction. Are you looking for a cheap shit heap or a zed that's above average?

I could be persuaded possibly to sell my Zed. (though dont really want to)

its a 260z 2+2 with L28 115rwkw 280zx gearbox, was resprayed around 4 years ago by previous owner though prep work wasnt done poperly and has a few spots of rust coming through. Interior is neat though could do with a tidy up. She has never let me down and is good on fuel i reckon. Anyway would make a good project and very useable car as nothing needs doing straight away.

Would be after $4800.00 with Rego but no roadworthy.

Hey, thanks guys i'm in Campbelltown Sydney at the moment and i'm look for something under 3k cause my old man was a panel beater and a spray painter so i any body work is fine but any sort of mechanical i'm not too good with at all tho hopefully will learn in time.

For under $3k, you'll end up with something that needs a heap of rust repair and also a fair bit of mechanical work (usually). If you do pickup a rustbucket Z, you may be lucky enough to find a shell from an unfinished project that you could purchase cheap (I have done this, by luck more than anything, right time, right place) and build a Z this way. But it'll take a few years unless you cut some serious corners. However, this doesn't sound like what you're after.

The time of the cheap, daily driver quality Zed has basically past. The mentality of 'it's only a z' and that they're just cheap, expendable sports cars is also fast disappearing. Some 80's and early 90's cars are now the cheap cars that haven't become classics.

That's a very accurate statement. If you don't have a big enough budget now, just have to keep saving..and I know how hard that is. Do you think a Magna wagon will be come a classic? cough..

Haha, nah, I don't think a Magna will become a 'classic' car, to some it will.

I meant that there's cars from the 80's and 90's that will become classic cars of their day, sure there's going to be a heap that don't make it, but, just like the Z was a few years ago, they can be picked up fairly cheap at the moment.

R32 Skyline GTR Anyone? :)

I've noticed in the past 2 years demand for an early Z car has definitely gone up. Prices have also risen alot too. There are still bargains to be had but if a car for sale is posted on the internet there is a good chance most people will see it. If you want a bargain you need to find a car hidden under a tarp or in someone's backyard and knock on their door with an offer to purchase.

Either that or find a barn, or stumble across some bloke who has about 50 of them in his backyard lol.

i'm also tempted to get an r32 gtr...we should all do it and then start a side club

i figure an s15 is probably a more practical/cheaper daily though, and the zed deserves an rb26...

i have a black ozzy delivered R32 GTR as well as my zeds - used to own a silver ozzy delivered R32 GTR but had to sell to get deposit for my house

R32 GTR are best bang for bucks but not cheap if something like the engine goes !

yeah once all the projects are done ill be looking at getting R32 GTR to add to the collection. give it a full resto. still waiting for prices to drop a bit more.  ;D good examples expecialy ozz models still fetch mid to high 20s.  special jap models like V spec and Vspec II are about same and seen a good one as high as 35k. me ill be happy with 93 jap spec. doesnt have to be V spec.
