Hi guys, been lurking as a guest on this forum for a while, decided id try to get my act together and join in the fun...

Looking for a 240z in average to poor condition (to be restored) and can be running or not. Happy to travel for the right car (have access to a car trailer) but would love it if i found a car in SA (Adelaide).

I dont have a fixed budget per se, but willing to negotiate a fair price based on condition, amount of rust, etc

If you know someone who is selling or you would like to sell, send me a PM or simply reply post here and ill get back to you

there was one for sale corner of tapleys hill rd and trimmer pde in a boat place. not sure if still there.havent been on that side for few weeks.

ive seen the car as it used to be my late mates car. needs resto shes has bit of rust but it was complete car (somewhat in pieces) with original engine i think it was 74 model. it would have been cheap but lot of work required.now not sure what he included in the sale so best is to

call Micheal on 0 4 two seven 4 0 three 0 three five and ask if he still has the car for sale. just say u seen in at the boat place few weeks ago.

otherwise ebay, trading post, carsales and forums be your best option.

good luck

hahah acf well the one i mentioned is cheap but its also rusty.only way to see if its good option for him is to check it out.

ive got a very rusty one and was going to use it for parts for my other one. but seeing the price of the 240z go up slightly in recent times im almost thinkin she be worth resurecting.she only cost me 400. so u can imagine that shes bad.

but i need lot of parts and LOT of time. so the price needs to jump a bit more before it becomes worth while fixing it up. but now it sleeps under the carport.

allocate the wrong side of $30k to do the job properly .. however, I suspect that a very well sorted and largely original 240z will escalate in price in the next upswing.

I recently read an article from Jay Leno who suggested that series 1 Mx5's and original 240z's are seriously lagging their European equivalents and should justifiably appreciate strongly as teh GFC subsides and collectors / investors look for their next 'bargain'.

yeah true if u cant do the job ur self and if u paying someone to do it.

im asuming cracker is doing the job himself and knows what hes doing since hes asking for average/poor condition one.

its good when money is tight and u have LOTS of spare time to fix it. if paying someone i agree hes better off buying a lot better car and paying bit more as it will be cheaper in the long run.

yeah read the same article. hence im bit reluctant to part with my other 240. also checked carsales recently and they mostly up the high 10s low 20s mark for a reasonable one. i think days of getting a nice 240z for 12-15k are long gone.

Hey guys,

Cheers for the replies. Sorry Lurch (and George) i have filled in my location  :P

RBZ 260, cheers for that, ill make the call and see how I go. Sorry to hear about your mate.

acf321, i have a pretty good idea of what im getting myself into (i think!) I owned a datsun 1600 a while back which i intended to restore but had other priorities at the time so got rid of it after about 6 months (I also found rust in the firewall which didnt inspire me). Probably lucky because if i still had the 1600 i wouldnt be looking for a 240  :) I have an ok knowledge of cars and mechanics, but Im fully aware of how much a restoration is worth and i know ill be outsourcing for at least part of the job...
