XRQTR Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Just reading over some old threads (Revs Car Show to be exact) I thought it might not be a bad idea to possibly do a couple of shows, maybe more if people are keen. Most people will have there cars on the road by sometime next year if they're not already so why not go out their and help the good Reverend spread the word of Zed, be his apostles perhaps. It's great when you see one or two at a show but imagine seeing a dozen or so shiny Zeds all lined up in a row. The added bonus of course is that it could add a new dimension to the club social calender, even if you can't show your car at the event you could still possibly attend thereby making it an AusZcar social event as well. Just a thought but I really think it would be good for all here as that way we could get the Zeds together more often as well as getting out and off the computers So if anyone would like to make some suggestions of shows we could get a start on possibly setting some dates in so we'd have plenty of time to do what needs to be done, ie. finishing off engine bays and interiors and paint and the like. dalee Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I have taken the zed to many car shows over the last three years, the best IMO are Picnic at Hanging Rock HUGE 8/2/09 Euroa fasted growing car show in Australia, 1,000+ cars - Oct 09 I have posted up about these type of events in the past, but no ones been interested! 620Z Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Good idea Steff. I would be in one or two if they were good events. I've always wanted to do the "Auto Salon" or some sort of big event. It's always fun to have a look around at some other great cars as well. Like you say someone needs to try and pick a few events. Quote
Cdr Zero Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Auto Salon? The one with pretend cars and pretend people? Quote
XRQTR Posted December 11, 2008 Author Posted December 11, 2008 Craig Auto Salon is primarily for late model cars or those with late model engine conversions, so anyone running RB or SR engines would be ok. I could ask about a club display as they are primarily Japanese cars so I think we could get in being a classic Jap car and most of us being modified in some way. What I'd like to see at the moment is people putting up events that they know of or have attended in the past, we could check them out via there web pages and maybe have a chat at the next meeting about which ones might be best suited. So if anyone has any particular shows they'd like to throw into the hat then go for it, I know Picnic at Hanging Rock is a huge event getting well over 1000 cars every year. I was talking to a fella yesterday who siad the Geelong Speed Trials are back on so this might be another one, could also be part of the Forum race calender , as well as having a club display. Also how about some of the less time/speed based tarmac rallies around the VIC/SA/NSW/TAS regions, this could be a fun weekend event socializing and spreading the Zed gospel to other classic enthusiasts. 620Z Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Ha Ha that's deep Miika. Maybe I used a bad example. :-\ Getting in and out of hanging rock with 1,000 cars could be a pain in the butt. How was it for you Dale? Anyway Steff you keep on it and throw up a good event when one comes along. I am sure some people will be keen. Quote
HELLFIRE! Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Numurkah holds an event called "Show us Ya Wheels" on the first Sunday of December every year. The preceding weekend is Summernats in Shepparton. The Numurkah event is all inclusive and family oriented, click on the link to see more. http://www.showusyawheels.com/ Quote
dalee Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Craig, With all these car shows its just a matter of timing, we get there b/w 8-8.30am and the line-up was a whole 5 cars, and you get the best parks. Getting out was easy to, if you plan on leaving at 2pm be prepared to wait. If you wait you can see all the cars leaving - park a chair at the gate and enjoy. Really depends how committed to these events you are, for me most of these events is a 6hr return trip, so I stay a while, more driving in the zed yea. Dale Quote
biggels240z Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Ive been to the hanging rock car show for the last 4 years and i reckon it would have to the best one ive been to i ve never had a problem getting in or out , especially if you go the back way over mt macedon and its a much nicer drive than all on the freeway. reverendzed Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Great idea Steff, I'm in! it does push you to finish off the niggly bits that otherwise you would learn to put up with! But for me it would be more the opportunity to meet up with the rest of the guys, look at a few cars, have a couple of beers and enjoy. The Cora Lyn show at Pakenham this year was my first and had about 600 cars and was great, that would be a good one for next year as would cars of the world. Quote
XRQTR Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 Numurkah was this Sunday just passed so if people want to do an annual picnic/get together within the Z forum/Z community (alot of /ing LOL) this could be a good as it is in fact more of a family oriented event. I know some of the Ford clubs go up their mainly for that reason plus it's a very friendly atmosphere. Mayhem what date was the Cora Lyn show?? and dale what date is the Hanging Rock one, we could maybe incorporate these three as they are well spread out geographically and allow more of the regional members to be able to participate. From what I know they are pretty close together on the calender so this could be a good thing as that way you have all year to prepare then a few weeks within which to keep them super clean and fresh. We could spread them out through the year if people would prefer but I really think it might be a good idea to have them closer, that way we know the show season has arrived and all get into the mood with a BBQ at Sulio's work for a quick get together before it all starts. I'll have a look at some possible shows over the next few days to see what's out their, but in the mean time if you have one that you would like to bring to the attention of the group by all means please do. This will save me some time and put up shows that people have attended, either as a spectator or an entrant, this way we have first hand experience of what the atmosphere is like and how well we might fit in. reverendzed Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I think the Cora Lyn show N shine is normally first Sunday in October. There is also a car shows and events calender here http://www.uniquecarsandparts.com.au/event_calendar.php? Rev. Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 have a couple of beers and enjoy. I didn't think you drank, Dave? /End Thread Hijack. Quote
XRQTR Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 Well first cab off the rank is a show-n-shine event in Bacchus Marsh on the 1st of Feb, it's $10 for entrants and $5 for spectators, here's a link, it's for a good cause so should make you feel warm and fuzzy inside http://www.showandrally.com.au/ Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 Guys, perhaps we should get a list of dates that these car shows are on, then decide which one's we'd like to attend. Doing too many might put some people under a bit of a strain, so maybe we should think of how many we want to do? Quote
XRQTR Posted December 12, 2008 Author Posted December 12, 2008 Just throwing it out their for now but I think that everyone that might be interested should check out the site that Rev put up the link to and put up what might interest them. That way we can pull them together and see which ones are the more popular of the lot. Quote
reverendzed Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 *Thread Hijack: Lurch, God gave us all the ingredients to make really nice beer the only problem is like most things people find a way to excess - So yes I love a beer and yes I do it sensibly, (which as a pastor is a better example than prohibition!) even Jesus loved a drink, it was actually part of the first miracle he performed, turning water into wine! and if there were Zeds instead of donkeys he probably would have had one of those as well! Bless you brother *End Hijack Quote
