mtopxsecret6 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Finally.. i had the parts here for a few months.. and now.. i have the rest of the car!!! woohoo!! time to start project 26. i will take some photos of it soon and post them up! Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 Ok, here are some pictures of the car. doesnt look bad at all.. it came with a fresh paint job(from 7 years ago).. complete excellent condition interior.. and full rubber seal kit. I believe it runs.. not up to that stage to test it yet. But.. for $600 bucks.. absolute steal. Thats her! I have all the interior bits in the spare room. Just need to source the carpet kit for the interior. once i have the interior back together i will get stuck into the mechanicals. Quote
sco_aus Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Good price. You have a lot of work ahead of you, good luck with it. Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 Awesome. Looks like a tidy Bus. BTW, piss those flat top carbs off quick smart. Quote
Hammer Posted December 13, 2008 Posted December 13, 2008 That is a great find. Where do people find great deals like this. I want' one. :-\ Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted December 13, 2008 Author Posted December 13, 2008 I think its not a bad deal myself. All the interior piece's are in good nick.. i dont have 100% of it all though i think.. i need to see another 2+2 to see what bits im missing, like the hood lining the front a pillars and along the top door frames, and also how the rear hatch seals fit. Unfortunately, i dont have a proper garage or carport to store or work on it as you can see! Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 13, 2008 Moderators Posted December 13, 2008 If the body work has been done right...excellent score! I bought a zed once in similar condition to yours...just a rolling shell minus all glass, no engine-gearbox-carbies, no fuel tank, no radiator etc. Still finished it though but it helps knowing what to look for and what you need to finish it! Take a heap of pics of a complete 2+2 in and out and that should help; also a w/shop manual. Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted December 14, 2008 Author Posted December 14, 2008 day one progress pics. So i have started from the rear end on my project.. i had snapped the bolt head off.. went and bought an easy out.. to have it snap.. so i drill the whole lot out and re-tapped my own thread.. so thats fixed. i also used some cleaning products as per the photo.. and cleaned all the black sticky crap off the rear end, cut and polished the rear and top of the rear quarters. oh.. the cat is the site manager.. .. she goes everywhere with me.. i had her on her lead cause she kept standing in my way. the first few pics are progress pics of the various parts i'm slowly cleaning.. as you can see.. there's a major difference between dirty and now clean. so far its looking good to me. as you can see by the photo.. it is cobalt blue metalic. Quote
luvemfast Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 for $600 bucks.. absolute steal. NO, you didn't buy that for $600? Where do you find a buy like that? Why don't I ever find out about them? Good job, I'm soo jealous... Quote
modular9 Posted December 14, 2008 Posted December 14, 2008 I know you say you got parts waiting and so forth ... but what are the plans for the blue beasty? Superb job on getting what looks to be a sensational body ( the car that is ) for the money. Quote
maddos Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 That is a nice colour, wonder if it's the mazda blue? Someone must have been desperate for cash to let it go for that price. If it is a decent paint job with no rust, most of the hard work has been done for you. Lucky son-of -a Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 if it is the mazda colour, i know the name # code, just had to spray me ms' new car after repairs. Mazda, winning blue, also a ford colour code : 27B Quote
RBZ 260 Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 what a bargain. lol. lucky you at least u just have to finish the fun stuff off.the hard boring work has been done. besides polishing, but i guess it can reward well when results are great. Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted December 15, 2008 Author Posted December 15, 2008 yeah i got it for that much. The paint job was done 7 years ago. It was sitting in the dude cargare for 7 years. he had to sell his house.. thats why i got it so cheap. it is ford cobalt blue. It will remain stripped.. and de-deadner.. ded.. and preped for tarmac rally. i want to make it handle like my 32. I like the look of the uk based twosix 2+2 with the flares etc.. so i will be going along that principal. Unfortunately coming from a stipped car.. even though i have a manual.. it is a bit hard to work out where what goes where etc. But hopefully the local lads will be able to help out with working bee's etc. Quote
C.A.R. Posted December 15, 2008 Posted December 15, 2008 BTW, would you mind filling in your Location? Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Here is some more progress pictures. I am going to paint all my chrome work flat black, inside and out. So, here is the beggining of the paint work ahead. Ive actually done more than that.. i must have pisplaced the photo of the other items i have already painted? I have also given the car a new set of plugs leads, given it some fresh oil and oil filter, im currently in the process of changing all the fuel lines aswell. Once i have all that done, i will attempt to fire it up and be sure it runs and drives etc before i get carried away with the cosmetic side of things. Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted April 7, 2009 Author Posted April 7, 2009 woohoo!! I have finally freed the blasted nuts on the fuel tank straps!!! time to continue on my journey.. next step.. change the fuel and vacume lines.. and see if this bad boy fires!! Quote
chris240 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 you know its tradition to record the 1st start-up & post it on YouTube Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted April 8, 2009 Author Posted April 8, 2009 and here is some photo evidence of the fuel tank out.. Now, time to clean repaint.. and reinstall tank with new fuel lines!! Quote
mtopxsecret6 Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 here is some progress. And here is some video links from the progress of my day today. When you watch the video's, just keep in mind this car has been sitting stagnant for 7 years. The brake's work.. steering work's etc and It's dirty as all hell even though the video looks like it's shinning like a crystal ball! Unfortunately.. i don't actually have a garage, i just have a plastic garden marque that leaks water and is always muddy when im working on the car.. bah!!.. nevermind. And I see lurch put's his foot in his mouth yet again.. seem's to be a common thing for him lately. wait till i finish editing my post next time. Quote
