WTD: 280ZX M/C

Hey guys,

I'm after a 15/16" 280ZX Master Cylinder to go with my immanent brake upgrade.

If anyone has one lying around they are willing to part with I'd be grateful.

Condition doesn't really matter as I'll probably reco it anyway.

I haven't been able to even get a new one - I've been told by my local Burson's & Ripco they are NLA :?

New one's ex US are around $250 + postage. No way I'm paying that...

I went to an ABS store and they can get them new, he told me after I spent $400 to have mine reco'd elsewhere. Although mine is now a 1" bore.

i got 1" patrol master cyliner brand new pbr from local parts store for $165 repco quoted $245

Does it bolt up to the std booster, Mick?

Lurch, they bolt to the booster, but the lines are fed from the side, not the bottom, so you have to get them modded.  Thats what i was talking about a while back.  From what i hear, the 1" is almost too much for your brake setup.

Lurch went to autopro today ,no listing in the PBR catalog so the boys are going to chase

up one tomorrow if possible .I,ll wait and see how they go and get back to you

Don't know if it will be too big on a boosted set up, but I went from 15/16" to 1" MC for my brake set up which is unboosted. The only problem I see will be the effort to push the extra volume of fluid, however Lurch with running the girly booster I'm not sure what that will do for the feel, may make lock up a bit easier.

 

I changed rotors and upset the system so we couldn't get the brakes to work, must have been marginal on the volumes with the Wilwood 4 spots up front. I went from a great pedal that was always low to an even harder pedal that works straight away, I'vejust enede up with a left leg a lot bigger than the right with the extra effort.

Yes, based off a boosted setup.  And going off what the gent at AZC said in regards to the 6 pot fronts, 4 pot rear Wilwoods, even he recommends 15/16th, so i imagine that since my 7/8th MC isnt quite up to the job of the same setup as you atm, then 15/16th would be spot on.  I dunno.  However, yes PBR make a 1" that bolts on to the booster but the lines just need to be modded.

 

I have a Patrol 15/16th one aswell ready to go, plus i will get a 1" and then its simple to change should i need to.

yeah it bolted to straight to master booster only difference was that the front and rear lines where reversed still mounted underneath as im using braided lines didnt worry me Pbr part number is jb1419

 

im using it with hilux 4x4 vent calipers the later model ones with falcon discs and mazda 929 rear discs and calipers works very good will lock but very good feel

 

pzg302 build those leg muscles up when i got one of my rx4 rally cars was fitted with balance bar and no booster i hated it yeah it worked but you had to to stomp on them like nothing else mush nicer with a booster

I have found that I get a lot more feel in the brakes with no booster, even if my right leg is twice the size of my left leg.

I would hope that what is in your lap, making your right arm bigger, would be larger than 15/16

Lurch, Nick just called. The brakes he has are S2 280ZX brakes so that works for me but he had a hunt around for the MC and just realised he sold it to a 1600 go some time back.  Bummer, but I'm hoping to go to Centre Rd wreckers on the weekend so I'll have a hunt around.
