Hey guys, I'll probably regret posting this here if I decide to get them myself, but my mate thought I might like to buy these wheels, they are on ebay cheap at the moment.

Here is the ad

Selling a set of Four Simmons 16 inch 4 stud mags....4x113.4 (*edit the offset that we measured is 135 mm from the hub to the edge of the rim)

Tyres are 205/45Z R16

they will fit most four stud mags, they were on our Nissan 280zx for a few weeks at the panel beaters and after looking at the it they don't suit the car, Starting Bid is also the reserve price (no reserve listed). Tyres are range from 50% to 90% all road legal. A few marks on wheels nothing dramatic.

I hazarded a photoshop, as you can see my photoshop skills need work.

What do you think? Cheap way to get rid of the cheviots... I'm assuming offsets and all that are sweet for Zs. Price as of posting is $400 no bids but I don't know what shipping would be to get it from dubbo to brisbane. Last photo is my car normally, obviously.

I'm far from a wheel expert so would appreciate any opinions, even if its just to say you think they won't suit.

Cheers,

Steve

Hi Stevo,

How wide are these? It might be a bit too close to your suspension if the backspace is 135mm....

You'll need to find out the offset (135mm is not the offset) and the width of the mags.

Looks good tho :) Good luck

135mm backspace is 5.3" of backspace and these would be a tight fit on a zed with coilovers. A 260z with the larger ID and lower spring perch on the front (vs 240z) about 4.5" back space ie 114.3mm is a good fit with a little clearance so these would need a 20mm spacer so not going to cut it. So you would have to change the inner shells on these = more $$. Not worth IMHO

Ouch. So they'll fit my 75 260z but need a spacer which is not cheap and therefore makes the wheels not worth it. Gothcha!

Cheers guys  ;D

hmmmm

If you pick these up for say $500-550ish its a bargain & probably still worth changing the outer or inner rim...the beauty of 3 piece rims.

sometimes you can agonise too much about why not to buy something, If it was me, Id be going for them...If they where $1000 ...perhaps different story.

gooooo for it .

just something to note, im pretty sure spacers are illegal in queensland. its fine if your care is already registered (which it is) but if you have to take it for a roadworthy im pretty sure it wont pass... easy to get around though, just put on your old wheels for a roadworthy

Also, be carefull on which bolt on spacers you get, i got the 25mm ones from Justjap and they wont fit over the front spindle cap (ie inner diameter of spacer hole is too small and wont fit over the axle).  If you do find any that will fit, let me know, my wheels sit too far in from the guards :P

Also, I went into Jax Quickfit here in Canberra, they are meant to be the Simmons wheels place, $600 to change 2x outer hoops on F90s.  This did include installation and resealing, but damn, i didnt see that coming.

I remember test fitting a set of 15" B45's on my 260Z from a 280ZX, the rears cleared ok but the fronts hit the strut. So like everyone says, either spacers or change the inners. At that price they are cheap! I paid $2900 for my Simmons similar to that pattern but in 17". Do some quick research before the auction ends!

If they were in Melbourne I would have a bid.

Good luck, which ever way you decide to go.

heres a pic with my 9" wide 16's simmons 130mm backspace, just clears the stock spring perch after a small belt with the sledge to roll the perch lip up a lil, tyres fitted are 245/45/16's and 205/40's  on the front.

If you find someone with a lathe, they'll be able to take the centres out to whatever size you need - if you find the right person, shouldn't cost more than a sixpack or two.....

You must have a 240z then :) as that much backspace does not work on a 260z front suspension as the standard spring perch is about 1" lower and with the stock angle on the strut this would foul on the 260z strut.

For future reference they ended up selling for $705. I'm broke at the moment from buying my gauges and being too sick to work, so I didn't bother bidding.
