I wouldn't be worried about the horsepower....more likely if the chassis rails are still parallel and straight! Would be great if you had a spare donor car for the rad support..I'd be checking door gaps etc..

You can see in the last shot that the front of the rails come in towards the centre not much chance they are straight, I also find it difficult to believe that was the engine in the car when it was smashed. If you look closely at just how much twisting their is in the inner panel area that radiator support would have almost hit the firewall, here is the link to one of the pics,

now think about the force needed to cause this kind of damage, the engine should have been destroyed.

The other bit of convenience is how the engine is not siezed (promise) but there is no starter motor anymore, oh and ye "it's painted red" so should turn over real quick.

As well he initally mentions that it cost $5K to rebuild the motor, I think he means build, but then later says it should be worth at least $3K-$4K, which is it?? and as for 300HP that would be worth at a guess somewhere around the $7.5K-$10K mark, just a guess. I'd be saying it's got a shaved head and cam with some flat top pistons and maybe some port work, my old 240K coupe used to fly (once the auto wound up LOL) and all she had was a recoed head with a slight shave, some new bearings and rings, she was the quickest pizza delivery car at Herbies ai Sulio, not to mention the big 12" sub in the shelf LOL.

It does look like a good project, I wouldn't look at the words in his description, best would be to have a look or get someone to have a look for you, even go to the trouble of bringing your own starter and see the look on his face when you pull it out.

Value - depending on what else is missing I'd say no more then $3K-$4K if he has all the interior, which he doesn't mention, and what condition it's in but I just sent him an email asking as well as what else is missing. But in saying that the cheaper the better LOL.

Also if the 5 current bidders are from here or you know them tell them to hang back till towards the end or put in a max bid now to auto bid, no point getting the price up too high too soon.

You're right on that; the crossmember has almost kept it parallel but both rails may be shifted to the passenger side. I would be underneath measuring distances across the chassis rails. With the engine, just get a breaker bar with a socket on the crank shaft pulley and rotate (if its still ok!) Looks like Godzilla attacked it

Its a basket case for sure. I wouldn't try fixing this up its simply too far gone. Good for parts - what's left that is.

That chassis is F%#%&d

Look at the passenger side strut tower, compared to the driver side. Fixable with alot of $$$ and a donor car, if you cut off everything forward of the firewall. Looks like someone has already cut out the battery tray area. You can see right through it to the ground in one of the photos.

ahhhh bullshit, this car can be pulled just as easy as modern cars, they are like coke cans!!!!!

i could pull it for free, and the squareness in these cars to start with was pretty poor anyways....

ive seen far worse resurected in name of keeping it on the road.

the car is in actually decent nick but i dare say they interior is the one on ebay separtely, check other items for this guys, 300 hp is a bit like you guys say, but hey, no trouble selling crack to kids this bloke, lol!

or ice tp a farkin snowman!!!!

Kick back champ, no one said it couldn't be fixed, what I and I can only guess others are saying is that there is no point paying too much for what is essentially parts, stuffed parts at that.

We all know how difficult it can be to find alot of the bits that DON'T come with the car, with that in mind I think this is worth no more than around $1500-$2000. You would first need to find a good donor car for the front section, this could set you back $100(edit $1000 hahaha  :P) alone for a good rust free shell, then you have to find someone that can do this kind of surgery PROPERLY not just for the right price.

Yeah personally I wouldn't bother with it is all I was saying. Like you say they are like Coke Cans, and once the metal is fatigued its not as strong, personally I value my safety too much to risk it. I'd rather find a modest (albeit rusted) out example that's at least straight and start with that.

Also all the meats been picked off the bones of this car. There is practically nothing left, which begs the question of why would you strip everything, but leave an engine? If the engine is so valuable strip it out and sell it separately or better yet sell off those carbs. Those carbies alone could fetch $1000 AU + with manifold.

There's just something not quite right for me with the whole deal, hence the reason I'd avoid it.

All the best to whoever buys it, but its gonna take some serious coin to fix her up nice. If your going to race it, well it will take some serious coin to build such a car anyway so I guess you would know what your up against.

I'm interested to see final sale price.

My favorite quote is this one "this is the best 240z project car you will ever find, with MATCHING ENGINE & CHASSIS NUMBERS ID plates included."

That's quite a statement, I've certainly seen better. He must be a car sales man. :)

I never said it was unrepairable. If you had a spare front end you could salvage it.  You could straighten what left of the front end, but you would need a donor car or a very good sheet metal worker to replace the parts of the car that have been cut off.

What you are buying here is a parts car that the owner has finished stripping all the parts he wanted off it.

I emailed the seller 5 days ago asking to have a look at the car in person, no response.  Based on some of his descriptions I'd agree he seems like a salesman.

May be he just does not want someone who knows a little bout these cars having a look at it!  Hiding somthing?

I think the bids are only there for the Webers, the roof skin and quarter panels.....everything else to Sims Metal!
