sco_aus Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Very nice, bit of a sleeper how it is now though. Quote
620Z Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Looks like a great car to me. We need a few more Zeds with V8's in them. Ha Very unassuming car. Quote
zedls1 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Well done, good pick up. Viewed the car and test drove it before buying Steve's RB30. Went really well apart from high diff ratio's, hence why your changing the diff and cosmetics. John Quote
mrp69 Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 so john you were goin to buy this 240z i just got back from the mechanic diff is goin in on thursday and when cash permits it brand new suspension peter Quote
C.A.R. Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Congrats on the purchase. Looks clean. So whens the 'Wildcat' headed, 5ltr Range Rover headed engine going in? IIRC this car was on Ebay a few months ago? Quote
zedls1 Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Hi Lurch, You are correct, actually it was in December 07, when i viewed it, It was @$5,500 with 3-4 days to go, not sure what it reached. The guy had a reserve on it $10,000. John Quote
mrp69 Posted June 23, 2008 Author Posted June 23, 2008 picked it up for less than that thou good starting point has a fair bit of power for whats in it but will be something to look at when its finished peter Quote
George Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 looking good peter. we need to organise that meetup when i come back Quote
Zeddophile Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 So whens the 'Wildcat' headed, 5ltr Range Rover headed engine going in? Grin That would be nice, but why not a 5.2? Watch the body lift from the torque when he starts a burnout about halfway through. Quote
C.A.R. Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Yes I know about that one Bit out of the price range for most people though. FWIW TVR Racing in the UK had a special run of blocks cast so they could be safely taken out to 5.8ltrs(!) Carl Hansen uses one in his Tuscan in the Super GT series in NZ. I've seen this car run in the flesh - positively frightening http://www.powerupdates.com/clients/supergt/pages/a_standard.asp?cid=690739861&aid=493285243 Quote
Zeddophile Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 FWIW TVR Racing in the UK had a special run of blocks cast so they could be safely taken out to 5.8ltrs(!) Never came across that before - a VERY special Rover block it would need to be to allow the bores to go that far without coolant streaming past the liners! Quote

mossy Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 How come you took out the v8 Peter, not enough power? Quote
Mr240z Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 My L24 had twice the power... Good for a boat anchor. Good move the RB cant wait to go for a ride in it.. Quote
sco_aus Posted May 24, 2009 Posted May 24, 2009 Very nice, you wont have any problems pushing 250-300rwkw with that setup. Though on stock internals, 250 is a safe fast output. Also, those RB20 boxes are shit, I would highly recommend getting rid of it for the RB25 box especially with those power figures. What turbo are you going to run? Quote
mrp69 Posted May 24, 2009 Author Posted May 24, 2009 stock turbo for the minute but will be looking into a GT3540 i think its called only problem ive been hearing is that the rb25 box makes u modify the shifter because it hits the centre console and fascia when in 1st 3rd and 5th but will do more research for the future will be hoping to get it to atleast 200rwkw and then when im bored of it ill spend more cash to make it faster v8 was good nice sounding just old technology and to get the sort or power i wanted i would of had to spend 3x as much as what this conversion is costing peter Quote
