killabeez Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 Hi all, I'm new to S30s so have a question for you experts out there. I've just picked up a 240z and it came with a bunch of spares, just seeing what is usable and what isn't. The car came with a complete set of struts/hubs/springs/brakes from a 260z, the previous owner was unsure if it was from a 2+2 or 2+0. Is 260z 2+2 and 2+0 suspension the same? If so, would any of this be a direct fit onto a 240z? Cheers Quote
AndBir Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 The pics below outline some rear suspension changes mentioned in the Datsun 1973 Service Bulletin covering changes from the 73 240z to the first model of the 260z : Quote
gilltech Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 As the previous owner doesn't know which model/year 260 the spares came from, the best thing you can do is compare them against the equivalent 240Z parts (which year is it?) and see what matches and what doesn't. There are many differences across the various Zed years not just spring rates/lengths but strut lengths, strut diameters, strut caps, front hubs, brakes and more as AndBir above has tabled. Quote
killabeez Posted October 13, 2017 Author Posted October 13, 2017 Thanks for the info, that'll help, my 240 is a '71. I'll put her up on stands once I get some room in the garage and compare them. Cheers Quote
dat240z Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 What side of town are you Killabeez? Im northside and could pop over to point you in the right direction if required. Quote
aircobra Posted October 14, 2017 Posted October 14, 2017 as above. front and rear struts are longer, disc brakes different, other parts same eg suspension arms, etc Quote
