280Z Horn Pad On 240Z

Hey all,

 

Recently recieved my Nissan Comp steering wheel and will start giving it a tidy up soon.

I was wondering if anybody had tried fiting a 280z horn pad from an American 280z to their 240z steering wheel as a cheaper alternative to buying a reproduction horn pad?

Looks like the actual horn mechanism is different but perhaps could be changed over?

I like the Z emblem horn pads and this one has previously been "fixed" but it is actually in pretty good condition. If the 280z option isnt a cheap alternative ill look at fixing this one up

I have a 240Z wheel here to compare with my NZ 260Z. Completely different design, nothing interchangeable, not even the spring!

I think it reasonable to presume the USA 280Z wheel is the same as the 260Z which they got too?

But there are a couple of different sized padded sections, my 260 has the taller one but I found a smaller style recently, dunno what it's origin is looks much like the one in your picture.

When I bought Gareth's wheel it came with the Z horn button but I actually like the "Datsun" version more.
