Hi All, have been a member here for a little while now and thought it was time to properly introduce myself.

My first taste of all things Datsun came at 19 years of age when I purchased a 240K Coupe. This was 1981 and life was good! Loved the lines of this car but hated the blind spots caused by those massive rear quarter panels. Lost this car in a fire when I was about 23.

They say when one door closes another opens and yes I purchased my first 240Z. Paid $2500 way back when(1985) This car was a rust bucket I hate to say and after some great times this car met it's maker nearly 3 years later courtesy of a car accident.

So the search began for my second Zed. This search took me to Wonthaggi in 1987, thanks to the Trading Post. The add had run for about 4 consecutive weeks and I was starting to wonder if there was a problem with the car. Anyway I made contact and the rest is history so to speak! First time I saw the car I knew it was a little different to my first Zed.

Yes. I had stumbled onto a Series One as I found out later. Paid $4800 for her back then. Had a lot of good times and years in that car, but sad to say it has sat in my shed since 1997.

Have owned a couple of other Zeds since purchasing my Series One. A second Series One(car #351)came along in 1996. This had a G nose kit attached. The remains of that car can be seen in the background of one of the pics below. This car is a story for another day! There was a 1977 260Z 2 seater in the picture for a few years(1996-99) Sold to a lady in Canberra. Still own a 1982, Series 2, 280ZX as well.

Well, as life often goes, you get sidetracked by one thing or another.

Hopefully today is the start to getting it back on the road as I have washed it for the first time in 20 years and all the 'dust and crap is gone'

She's car #268

Cheers,

Sean.

Wow - it looks great - I bet you stood back with a big grin on your face after you washed it.

Do you have the original motor?

(expect an enthusiastic reply from a certain site administrator very soon!  ^-^)

Yes, still have the original motor :)

Have plans on doing a rebuild in the future for this.

There's an L28 on the engine stand ready to go in. Just needs a couple of finishing touches.

And yes I have enjoyed spending some time with the old girl recently. brings back a lot of good memories O0

Plans are to go over the mechanicals, get an engine in and get her on club rego and just enjoy her for a bit before I get to old!

There is a little rust, but overall she's pretty good for her age. The paint job is still ok considering it's been sitting for so long.

Just lucky that she was in a shed out of the elements.

Hi Sean

Looks like a great "time capsule" of a car.

Makes me wish I had some of my previous toys.

Look forward to following your progress towards being back on the road.

Cheers

I'm excited ;D  :)

Just placed an order with Z car depot, needed a weather seal kit.

Couldn't help myself and I ended up grabbing some other bits and pieces........totalled just over 1K ::)  :D including shipping, which isn't cheap!

At least I'm a little closer now to getting her back on the road O0

If you spend less than 1k including shipping then you're doing it wrong if my experience is anything to go by!
