KatoKid Posted February 18, 2017 Posted February 18, 2017 Hi all. I'm in need of this spring that supports the hand brake cable on a 240Z (don't know if its the same for 260Z and 2+2). The spring hangs from the high point of the body above the diff and clips on to the hand brake cable to support it and keep it from falling onto the driveshafts. My car only had one on it when I got it. Looks like this: Melbourne hopefully! Thanks. David Quote
zeds4ever Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 G'day mate , had a look at the set up on my S30 & there is only one spring existing in that area & that is to pull the H/Brake mechanism back . Regards : Alan . Quote
gilltech Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 KatoKid is correct - there should be two springs - one for each branch of the handbrake cable. They keep the cables up out of the way of the rotating half-shaft assemblies. Quote
PeterAllen Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 Dave. The tempering of those springs can be a bit buggered after an extended period of use and they can be easily distorted when reattaching the cables. Take the one you have to Bunnings and select two similar length and tension springs. They have a pretty good range. Quote
KatoKid Posted February 19, 2017 Author Posted February 19, 2017 Thanks Peter...again. I've never seen springs in Bunnings so will go and check it out. Quote
PeterAllen Posted February 19, 2017 Posted February 19, 2017 (edited) You may have to take to the ends with a pair of pliers to create the exact end shape you'll need Edited February 19, 2017 by PeterAllen Quote
