L28

Hi all.  I have been keeping an eye or three out for an L28 but I must be looking in the wrong place??  Or do they not come up much?

They are around, what are after

 

Bare block

Short motor

Long motor

Complete runner, carb or EFI

 

Maybe try posting a wanted detailing what you would ideally like and what would be close enough.

Yeah I probably should.  I am just not in a rush (as I am still cutting rust city) but have had an eye out for about 9 months - obviously in the wrong place.  I have an f54 short motor but the previous owner had it out in the weather so ideally looking for either a runner (carb) or long motor.

honestly, if it turns over freely with the plugs out, spray some WD40 in each cylinder put some fresh oil in it and run it, L6 engines are pretty dam tough

not a 28 but I have a 26 only done 12k km since full rebuild if your interested freight might be a killer

In the 80s turbo F1 cars they used to leave the blocks in the weather as they thought it made them stronger. Take what you have to an engine builder and see if it can be saved.

Perfect candidate for a rebuild. Just overbore it to 86mm = 2.8ltrs

And you have lots of options for cylinder heads and crankshaft/con-rod/pistons depending on budget.
So the block is a great place to start.
