aussie240z Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 So after an eventful trek4kidz rally this week and an argument with a 2m bank and a 3 point roll my Zed needs a little tlc. Need both doors plus a few othe pieces of trim. The doors are prime to start - at least drivers door and glass. If anyone has options please let me know. Have to get the beast back on the road for next years trek and fundraising. Thanks in advance if any optionss. Quote
PeterAllen Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Bad luck Ian. Can you run fibreglass doors and perspex windows? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 28, 2016 Administrators Posted August 28, 2016 How bad are the doors? Is it mostly the door skins or the frame that has taken the punishment? Quote
abzcar260 Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 Hi, I noticed someone has 240z doors on trade me. Cheers Andrew Quote
AndBir Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) If the 260z 2 seater doors are the same then maybe try : http://www.sportsclassic.com.au/Parts/?bid=103&mid=67&aid=5 Same picture under 240z link : http://www.sportsclassic.com.au/Parts/?bid=103&mid=43&aid=5 Edited August 28, 2016 by AndBir Quote
aussie240z Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Still road registered so not sure the fibreglass option would work, thanks. Was already considering the lean option as the winders take a beating. The car is currently in Grafton at another trek participants business so arranging trailer to go and bring it home. Once back will check how bad the drivers door actually is so maybe a skin will suffice but looked pretty hammered when we gout out of it. Thanks re the trademe links and sportclassic. Have looked at parts there before too. Definitely options. Thanks Quote
PeterAllen Posted August 28, 2016 Posted August 28, 2016 (edited) I contacted my engineer before I made the fibreglass doors to see if it would be okay. His comment was; "They're fibreglass on Corvettes and plenty of other cars - no problems!" The weight saving is incredible, particularly without the glass and winding mechanism. aussie240z Posted August 28, 2016 Author Posted August 28, 2016 Thanks Peter. When you say you made them, did you mould them up or source them? Quote
PeterAllen Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I got them from here: http://www.motorsportfibreglass.com.au/ but then modified them substantially to make them the bucks for GTO moulds. Quote
