ScottyB Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 I see endless photos of S30's with ZG Flares and 9/10" 15" wheels. What am I missing when it comes to lack of available tyres? I hate stretched tyres and don't see the point of running an 8" -41 wheel just so there is a tyre available to fit it. Any help appreciated. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted June 9, 2016 Moderators Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) Hi 15" tyres are only available in limited sizes unless you go to expensive heavily track biased tyres I have 15x8 @ 0 with 225/50 and the choice in that size is reasonable Edited June 9, 2016 by PB260Z Quote
ScottyB Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 Yes, that's what I am finding. Going with flares for a 15x8 just seems kinda pointless... Maybe 16's have slightly better options. 17's definitely do but that's not really the look I'm going for. Quote
Triptych Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) http://sumitomotyres.com/sumitomo-htr2000/ I will be running those on my 15x10 -53 and 15x9 -41 work wheels when they get here from Japan. Most people run street legal semi slicks (Toyo r888 etc) in 225 on the rears and 205 on the front (9" and 10"). Some of the semi slicks don't look as bad due to running wider but are still stretched Edited June 9, 2016 by Triptych Quote
ScottyB Posted June 9, 2016 Author Posted June 9, 2016 Cheers for that. Yes - Toyo Proxes look like are the only thing that goes close. I did come across muscle car tyres BF Goodrich just like those but the profile just wasn't quite right (compared to my current rolling diameter). Might find that the current rolling diameter it came with isnt right? 205/50/r16 front & rear. Quote
Triptych Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Rolling diameter will be a little off running those htr2000 but I don't think it's going to be out by much. It's not such an issue for me personally as I will be aftermarket gauges which you can adjust the speedo on. Only issue with the r888 is Toyo have discontinued them for a new version which I think is set up more for dry conditions compared to the original R888 which was rather decent in the wet. Also the current 15" sizes listed for the new version is all they are doing with no plans to expand the 15" range. Quote
260DET Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 Probably not a good option now what with the weak Pacific Peso but the US may have wider 15's or else check some of the American brand tyres that may be available here, like Goodyear, BFG and so on. The overall problem is that when a new tyre comes out only the larger diameters are catered for. Quote
d3c0y Posted June 15, 2016 Posted June 15, 2016 This is the exact reason i went 16" over 15". 16s are hard enough! Quote

Riceburner Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Wouldn't 225's on a 10" rim be way too small? Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted June 22, 2016 Moderators Posted June 22, 2016 Hi There are a few websites that can advise in appropriate tyre and rim size combinations. http://www.tyresizecalculator.com/tyre-wheel-calculators/tyre-size-for-rim-size-width-calculator Quote
d3c0y Posted June 23, 2016 Posted June 23, 2016 (edited) 225 on a 10" rim although it's a low profile 19... It is completely retarded. Edited June 23, 2016 by d3c0y Quote
ScottyB Posted June 23, 2016 Author Posted June 23, 2016 Not a fan of stretch like that. Pretty much cemented 8.5's or 9's at widest for me based on tyre availability Quote
