Cnc Light Weight Rocker Arms (Zcc Jdm)

I need to replace the rocker arms in my L24 and stumbled across these..

The motor is stock so I am not sure that light-weight rocker arms are necessary but would anyone care to comment/suggest otherwise?

 

Anyone had any direct experience with this product?

You can get your rocker arms resurfaced, no point spending that much on rockers unless it was an all out race motor.

Nice item but a waste of money as the factory rockers are good quality. $599 usd for 12x for L6, plus  Aussie dollar conversion rate, plus freight, plus any Duty taxes.

That's my 2 cents worth. Spend the money else where on your car.

I recall reading on Hybridz about one of the rockers snapping in half.

 

I resurfaced my used rockers myself by hand when I upgraded the cam. I followed the instructions I found on hybridz as per 'norm the 12sec dude' build. It's pretty basic but very time consuming!

 

No issues at all so far, that's running a 76deg works high lift cam, cosworth springs etc on the PMC P90 head. This head/cam/rockers setup has been used on the previous L29 and now the L31. Plenty of road miles and track time too.

 

What's wrong with the rockers you have now?

What's wrong with the rockers you have now?

 

I am replacing my cam (with another stock cam), as the previous owner must have overtightened the valves to a ridiculous extent, so there is noticeable wear on several of the lobes on my cam. And I am talking extremely noticeable wear.. visually it would appear to be at least 0.5 - 1mm+!!

 

As I do not know how long this problem has existed I figured it would be safest to replace all of the rocker arms and lash pads too so that all thicknesses were correct, as I am not sure of the condition of my current rocker arms (they look fine but I have only done a visual inspection.. based on the level of wear on the cam I assume that this would be the safest option?).

 

Given these circumstances I would think that resurfacing my existing rocker arms might be a little risky if some had potentially worn at different rates?

Sounds very nasty, maybe it was an oiling issue.

 

I'd be looking for a good condition second hand set or even a complete good condition head. That'll have everything you need.

Or alternatively is it possible to have the rocker arm pads replaced from SWM/Les Collins etc?

It's probably one for the experts. Maybe they can tell if yours are still ok.

 

If it were me, I'd stick with the original Nissan arms (a different set) and just get them resurfaced professionally or the DIY method.

Get in contact with Les Collins, I have given them some additional rocker arms I had as spare. Since the OEM ones are great and usually just require resurfacing. This is what we did with my E31 head rebuild.

If your arms are not in good cond, so will the cam lobes be!

Either a new cam is required, or, if your existing cam base circle diam is still standard, it can be reground to take away any lobe tip wear marks.

Also good used ones that have been correctly radiused surface ground.

I bought a set of MSA Z Store rockers and the  tolerances were all over the place. Engine builder declined to use them and opted to use the old ones.  Seems to be some quality control issues, at least on the batch i received.

Just another case of the OEM parts being superior to so called aftermarket improvements.

Thanks for all the help guys, spoke with Les and he does change over of rocker arms if I wanted to go down that road. Given all the work involved to replace half of the valve train components to fix my current problem however, I think am going to take a different road and build up another head to the specs etc that I want for my finished build, rather than going through the exercise twice.
