Modern Cosmetics On Our Old Gold Cars

Recently while cruising the streets of Brisbane, I was nearly taken out while turning. The guy yelled out his window, "use your f***ing indicators!", to which I replied, "I am f***ing using them!" I then realised that he was in a transit van that sat high off the road.

 

The visibility of my 260Z indicators is poop. In order to avoid hurting my baby I replaced the parking lights with amber globes and wired them into the indicator harness, and I also put in a pair of amber angel eye/halo headlights, to which I also hooked to the indicators.

I want to keep my pride and joy as original as possible but I also dont want to end up a transit van's lunch.

I'm actually quite happy with the way they look!

 

What does everyone think of these modern upgrades?

I don't mind them.  The only concern I have for my car is legality - cops in some places are only too keen to defect people!

Don't mind them at all but doesn't the indicator affect the headlights at night?

Not sure on the legalities. But I've noticed that on the current model jeeps that if the head lights are on and they are indicating the light indicating turns off. That system also uses a similar setup for having the headlight flashing for indicating, so shouldn't be an issue.

 

How noticeable are they with the head lights on?

That's the DRL's that do that. If it's the model Jeep I think it is. the headlights are a lower than those lights.

 

When the headlights are on the headlights stay on all the time when the indicator is used.

They are practically invisible qith the headlights on, but I replaced the parking lights with indicator bulbs aswell. Hopefully shouldnt be a problem

the headlights on the modern cars like the Audi's and Jeeps turn off (or dim) when the indicator is on so you can see them, but bear in mind they are the ONLY indicators on them, so they have to do that.
You still have a functioning OEM indicator under the bumper (and on the quarter if fitted) so the headlight indicator is a supplement and i would wager doesnt need the headlight to dim when its on.
The headlight indicator would never be able to be used as the only indicator though, because the headlight doesnt dim and because it probably wouldnt pass the condition of being fully visible at a 45 degree angle.
I like it, it looks good.
