dat2kman Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 The Fairlady continued into the S130 range, as a Fairlady-ZX Non-power steering front end, L20AE engined Assume done to meet the under 2 litre reduced registeation cost in Japan. I parted a 2/2 out some years ago, fender mirrors, badging, bumpers, interior all a bit different. It had the id tag as L20A But engine had been swapped out fora 2.8 injection motor, it had a heavy R200 diff fitted, brakes were regular S130 Quote

Caption simply reads. Below: The real show stealer was Datsun's 260z - a 2+2 in the E-type tradition. Let's hope it doesn't meet with the same fate as the Jaguar - discontinued this year. You can see the banner behind that says Fairlady 260z 2by2 This article was published January 1974, so it's likely the event happened around (October 1973?) perhaps? It was the Tokyo Motorshow (20th Anniversary) *Edit here we go. 30th of October 1973. http://www.tokyo-motorshow.com/en/history/20.html Just goes to show how popular the 2+2 concept was at the time and for that reason I really feel the 2+2's get a hard time in hindsight. Great car. See 2:50 mark, a couple of Japanese Models in yellow are talking about the car. Kind of feel sad it never happened. I have another photo of what I think is the same car? Alongside the photo is an article. gav240z 1 Quote
260DET Posted March 31, 2017 Posted March 31, 2017 The 280ZX introduction booklet issued by Nissan at the time goes through the design process and shows several variants which were considered for production, some quite modern in retrospect like that in the video Gav posted above. Only have one incomplete scan as below. gav240z 1 Quote
