Haven't really started on the suspension yet. The car already has 5-step adjustable shocks and aftermarket springs, but I plan to make custom coilovers based on HSD products. I have Techno Toy Tuning adjustable caster rods on the front too, but as the above post mentions, it is worth making the toe adjustable on the rear. I had adjustable toe on my old 1JZ powered 240Z and it made the rear end much better. All that said, the car doesn't feel too bad as-is. The worst problem is bump-steer at the front. I don't think aerodynamic lift at the rear is such a big issue, but I suppose it depends how fast the track is.

Yeh i've heard of this as well......the rear toe issue.

Whats HSD? I've got 50mm Bilstein coilovers in mine from Heismans in Sydham and their not bad.....but it's in the aligment where I think mine isn't quite right yet.

HSD is the suspension brand I distribute. See www.otomoto.com.au

bump steer is easy to correct in comparo to the toe issues in the rear. redrill or slot the crossmember for LCA pivot re-location, or those bulky spacers!!!

Just spoke with Stewart Wilkins about this. Changing the control-arm pick-ups does help the bump-steer, but you wind up with different roll-center heights front to rear. His solution is specially designed steering arms which also improve toe-out when steering close to full lock. Unfortunately like all clever bits of engineering, they don't come cheap.

I just dropped the car off at SWR to have the DR30 R200 LSD fitted, using modified Z31 driveshafts. Having proper drive a the rear should reveal what the rest of the suspension needs. Basically suspension and brake upgrades are all I have left to do on the car now. Performance-wise I am quite satisfied.

Nah, I'm more into the windy stuff.

The diff is in now and the car drives really well out of corners. I also fitted a new master cylinder and reco booster this week, which improved the braking quite a bit. Also adjusted the rear brakes properly which helps too. You don't have to yank the handbrake up so far either  ;D

Ben, that suggestion was the easy route for fixing bump steer. to not alter the roll centre the other option is to modify the crossmember to lower the rack mounting position, im just not sure as to what fab work you lend yourself open for ....... you could go and spend big bucks on things you dont even realy need but is just easy caus your lazy, depends on how dirty you want to get your hands.

You could modify another crossmember as to keep your car on the road (or off as lil as possible).

SW steering arms i would be interested to see.... as using the CA spacer below the strut also affects your front end roll centre. having different height RC's affect the way your car loads the front before the rear kinda skewing the car into the corner, promotes understeer if excessive, but using the roll centre change can be advantageous depending on track conditions and attitude of the car req'd for quick transitions.

Some bump steer is desireable as a zero condition is not as ideal when hitting full bump on the outside/loaded wheel as it lets the tyre give a lil and has that last bit of grip before letting go.

it would be good to see you car in action, this is one of the cars that the owner has the right intentions for outrighht performing charachteristics in mind...

am watching this thread............

Yes lowering the rack is another option, but the modified steering arms have the second advantage of moving the pick-up points further out relative to the steering axis as I mentioned. I have seen similar modifications done in Japan where the arms were cut and welded, but that sort of thing doesn't go down too well with CAMS officials here  ::), so the billet arms do appeal to me. I'll look into it more when I do the coilover modification.

hmmm a 1:09 around wakie would be nice to see.

Will get down there as soon as the brakes are done. I've also entered it in Superlap at Oran Park GP on July 5th

ben looks like il be moving my stering rack down not to decrease/eliminate bump steer but to get the vh45 down about 10-15mm lowere, as x-member sits about 30-40mm+ lower than the rack mounting brackets!!!, a worthy mod indeed in this case

you'll see what i mean and it really isnt that hard at all, i will document (with pics ) the process to do it simply and mantain the stock mounting rubbers & steering shaft (just new clamp brackets)

Just fitted the carbon tail-light garnish from Restored to my car. The original garnish is 1.33kg, compared to 250g for the carbon one, but at $500 I have to admit I just did it because I like carbon  ;D

Thanks. Here's another bit I bought from Kameari. The original cowl panel was 2.28kg, this fibreglass one is 1.36kg, so it saves less than a kilo, but on the plus side it fits perfectly.

Do you have the carbon front bar as well? Hope you don't park in the zed in any public spaces. How many zed front bars do you see with tow ball marks? One touch and it's all over.... The tail light surrounds look awesome... have to get me some when this conversion is done......

Yes, both are carbon

Took the Zed to WSID today to do some quarter mile runs. The best was a 13.66 at 102.2mph, which was with the original 3.9:1 diff ratio. This ratio really kills it, as you barely get into fourth before the line. I'm fitting a 4.875:1 Kameari gearset next week, which should make a big difference. Also had old, stiff A032R tyres on (they were on the Watanabes when I bought them), so the best 60-foot was a 2.04. I should be able to get that down to 1.7 or so with some drag radials. I'm aiming for 13.2 or better from the current set-up.

Here's a little burnout video, not sure why the sound is out of sync.

Yeah Ben, c'mon lets put an article together :). I'm getting sick of the front page, needs an updated featured ride.

Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Nice burnout btw, would of liked to see a 1/4 mile run though :).

Yeah sorry, the quarter mile video kind of sucked. Like watching a small white dot move slowly across the screen. I'll try to get myself organised enough to take some photos this weekend and put together a feature.

ben your car looks awesome, although to completely finish carbon treatment flow from front to back i think it needs a carbon fibre hatch, cowl panel, and hood inspection cover things! :D

kool..........im sure the times will come down considerably.

Hey where did you get those mirrors from Ben?

I got them on Yahoo Japan, but they're also available from Kameari at about $250.

Got this sticker with the carbon tail light garnish from Restored, it cracks me up.

For those who don't know, Ken & Mary was a company that sponsored the most successful GC110 (240K) shape GT-R race team, so that shape is known as the Ken-mary in Japan. The earlier KPGC10 GT-R is called the hakosuka, which translates as box-skyline.

did those tyres give you any grip? the tread looks way overdue but the 60ft is ok though.
