Bloozed Posted October 19, 2015 Posted October 19, 2015 Evening all The Z has still not been found, but the 2 guys who got pinched for stealing it have just been sentenced. One got a suspended sentence and the other got 3 years, but he will be out in January 2016 after time served and good behaviour bond. The police put a huge effort into this case as they also had done other jobs that night and harassed an old lady. The police said it was typical sentence, one of them had a swag of kids so suspended, I think de sexing might have been warranted. The insurance paid out, but never enough when you are looking for a replacement but The Zed community came through and found another car. It is great and probably much better than ZED 003 but I only remember the old one through rose coloured glasses. There is a good story behind trying to track the car down, came so close but these guys keep an eye on these sites for information and they are not worth getting tangled up with again. Good BBQ story. There were downsides with the information I posted according to the police but having you guys looking out for it was a great comfort, it went worldwide. And that's the rub, provide information and make it accessible to all and therefore it helps a lot of people... Or lock down the community which makes it more difficult for those of below average intelligence to access it. However that could limit community growth and turn the place into a ghost town... I am thinking a "verified members" section would be a good start. In return for a photo of your VIN, ID plate and car, along with details about it for a registry we could allow only those who have verified ownership of an S30z access a verified only board. That way discussions can be a little more free in that section. Leave the technical forum open along with classifieds etc.. GongZ 1 Quote

Why does this even count in sentencing? Like having children somehow absolves you from the full punishment when you do the wrong thing? Sounds like repeat offenders to me, so the law says if I (no kids myself) decide to commit the same crime I'll get the book thrown at me for NOT breeding? bobs260 1 Quote

It cost something like $70k a year to keep a prisoner and add to that the welfare cost of supporting their family during that time. Also, while a prison sentence would frighten the daylights out of you and me, for some of these characters it's just an occupational hazard and then a chance to catch up with their mates. I, and I'm sure owners of similar vehicles, would like some more general detail about this case. It sounds as though this car was targeted if the perpetrators followed the web sites, and in particular, what is believed to have happened to the vehicle. Thanks. gav240z 1 Quote
74zzz Posted October 20, 2015 Posted October 20, 2015 (edited) Can i just say there may be people scoping potential cars on this site.....after having my bits and pieces up on the for sale page I had a number of inquiries that didn't seem legit. ie. saying they were interested in parts and wanting to come grab them but then not telling me what bits they were actually interested in.....im guessing, hoping that i give out an address without asking questions.....could be paranoid but after having something similar happen with another car of mine and my brother having a few attempts on his phase 2 when it was advertised a few years ago.....don't take any chances....
