theremm Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Just noticed tonight after taking the rocker cover off for the first time since owning the car for a year that my oil spray bar for the cam is broken at one end. Is this a major concern? (dumb question..). I haven't had any problems mechanically with the car at all and hence not sure how long this has been broken. The car did start squeaking only just last week, however I thought this might have been the fan belt but perhaps it is due to the cam not getting oil from the broken spray bar; am yet to resolve this. Worried that the loose piece at the end might intersect with the cam..see pics. Thanks Quote
gilltech Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 You say broken, then you say loose piece; it's not clear, is the end part detached or just loose but still in place? Quote
Riceburner Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 Looks like #6 cam lobe will come very close to hitting the spray bar. Have you turned it over by hand to see if anything hits? Quote
theremm Posted August 21, 2015 Author Posted August 21, 2015 Loose piece, to be more specific. Snapped at the weld/solder. The cam won't necessarily hit if I adjust the position of the loose piece so that it is as far away from the cam as possible, however I am concerned that it might move when the engine is running in which case it would likely make contact with the cam Quote
Riceburner Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I thought I could see scratch marks on the end of the spray bar. I'm not sure on a fix for the existing setup, perhaps it can be tig welded with small gussets for strength? Maybe one for the guru's. I could possibly have a spare spray bar or standard internally oiled cam with a full set towers from a complete head if you get really stuck. Let me know and I'll have a look through the pile. Quote
dat2kman Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 I have a spray bar, welds are good. Echange, your broken ended one, for my good one, plus cash my way Pick up whenever you want. Quote
