VQ25DET into S30?

Has it been done?  Google didn't seem to think so. 

 

Seriously considering it however for my 260z.  I've spent a long time tossing up between a VQ35DE Vs RB25DET swap... the VQ25DET seems like it may be the best of both worlds... light like the VQ35, 6-speed box, weight behind the front axle... but with the cool factor and easy mod-ability of a turbo.

 

Approaching the point in my build that I'll need to make a call and drop some cash soon!

Not really - I'd like something light and higher revving for the zed - nothing against V8's, as I'll likely use one in the project after this, something like an AC cobra replica for example. 

But I'm after a different character for the zed.

There are plenty of VQ35 conversion in the states and even a kit to do it, made by Austin Hoke.

A built 6 throttle VQ35 with some big cams would be a pretty epic motor in a zed, but then you have a V. 6 cylinders should be inline!

If you are after bang for buck you won't be able to beat an RB25DET though.

Yep do it. Just buy an engine and see how it fits in there. I like the sound of a project like this.

Can't see any reason to use a VQ25 rather than a 35, there would not be much weight difference. If it was me there would be a LSx going in there, lighter than the L6 and the VQ.

I've got a vq25det in the stagea. Nice engine and moves 2t along well.  Would go well in 1200kg.

 

As far as I knew though it only came with the 5speed auto.  What car are you getting the 6 speed out of?

Some v35 skylines came with the vq25 and 6 speed combo but only in N/A i believe. I also heard that the z33 350z gearbox fits directly onto the vq25.
