Hi everyone!

I am now the proud owner of a 1976 260z 2+2!

It requires a fair amount of restoration and a bit of rust removal but it's mine and I already love it!

I've always wanted a Z since my father told me stories of his own one. He had a 240z back when he was younger and sold it to accommodate the coming of children (sister and myself) so I thought one day I would buy him one.

So I did the next best thing and bought one for myself we could share!

The 260 is almost completely stripped already and has been sanded back a little, the doors will require some fabrication and also the rear of the car. It has a l26 on an engine hoist and is a auto. I'll be looking to convert it to a manual and get it to a state that it is ready to be painted. Unfortunately I'm on my phone so I can't share any photos just yet. It Appears to have been a champagne colour originaly. The man I bought it off before had been collecting parts for the restoration so I have a full room of car parts now :D

Looking forward to start working on it when I'm on my christmas break and gaining as much knowledge as possible from all of you. As this is my first real restoration project it'll be a very quick learning experience I'm sure!

Any advice is welcome!

Regards Paul

Hi Paul and welcome.

There are some contacts that will be useful to you in the project you have undertaken.

The WAZ Register has an active group of people who compete in regularity events etc and as its name indicates, maintain a register of S30 cars and their owners across Australia. They hold regular social gatherings as well. Great resource for people getting into a project.

Martin Falconer of Tuneright (phone 0417 953329) does a LOT of quality preparation work on vehicles, including both of my own, if you need somebody to do things you cannot do yourself or for any parts you might be looking for eg all of the gear required for an auto to manual swap.

This forum is an excellent resource but it is a good idea to have a bit of a search before putting a call for help on to the bulletin boards.

The Dadson build thread is an excellent resource in itself if you want o see some good how to details for parts of your car.

How are you situated for garage space, tools and personal skills for the project? If we know a little bit more about your background it will help members pitch their advice appropriately.

Once you get going with pics and all, document a plan and start a build thread as both a diary of your project, and to keep us up to date.

All the best with your project. They are a great car.

Regards

Dave

Welcome, the 2+2 is an underrated vehicle in Australia. Perhaps globally? I think there isn't many left now. We probably have the majority of the remaining supply if I took a guess.

this is going to be a long term project too. I'm sure I'll be browsing through here often. it'll take a bit of time to get through it but hopefully keep you guys posted.

i have since removed almost everything from the shell and cleaned the windscreen.

the plan is to get a garage built first at the rear of my property and work on it in there.
