Hello team,

So I'm the guy that won that L28 with N42 head and block on eBay few days back and I'm leaving from Sydney now to pick up (ACT.) Been a proud Z owner for 14 years but never stepped into this side of engine change.  Don't know where to start but I'm hoping to put it in my 260z 2+2 as its has the L20 and want to use as a daily.

It bolts in exactly as your current engine would. The only variable would be the sump bowl position if your new engine came from anything that wasn't a Z

Thanks Agno,

It appears that it came from a 260C Auto and I'm manual. Not sure if this will cause any problems. Will assess it when I get home.

I was tempted to put a bid myself, glad to hear it's going into a car. I would have just used to learn something till I buy a z. Be interested to hear how it works out. Good luck.

Don't forget to put a pilot bushing in the crank for the input shaft support of the manual trans.

Automatics don't have this, so it's not usually installed in the crank of an automatic equipped engine.

Got her home! i opened the oil cap and had a very strong petrol smell.... Think I will invest in the rebuild books for the L28 and attempt my first ever rebuild.

no better way to learn!!

If i could suggest, maybe start a thread and document your rebuild.

It'll give you your own space to ask any questions as you go along and give you the motivation to keep at it.

If you need a hand, feel free to ask or PM me, plenty of people here are happy to give advice where needed.
