Hi Guys

I'm looking for an LSD for my 260z. There seem to be alot of options and i'm open to all. The car will have 250+rwkw so i'll need something strong, but it also needs to be 'engineer-able' so can't require too many modifications to make it fit.

Who has something i can buy without spending a pile of money?

Cheers

Not sure if they still do them, AdelaideJap importers wreckers were selling the DR30 LSD's for about $1k. Easiest to install without any real hassles. Just get a good ratio like 3.9 or 4.1.  4.75 is great for rock crawling...

Just get a Subaru STi LSD and some Wolf Creek side axels. Bolt in boom!

Cheaper and newer than a crappy old R200.

Aren't Wolf Creek CVs meant to be akin to $h!t creek based on feedback from members here?

Probably the easiest to get your hands on too. What are their side axles like, do they 'stake' the splines on them the same as the CV's or are they machined properly?

Just get an R200 as already said. I have 350rwkw. R200 takes it all day every day.

Don't get the wolf creek axles, They are designed for NA L series engines.

Get them from Stewart Wilkins motorsport.

The DR30 LSD's aren't from the 40's, I've had one in my zed for the last 8-9 years with no issues. Just strip and check then install. No need for optional axles, just swap your original R200 bits and put them on the LSD then install.

You guys are all talking about the wrong product! I'm not talking about their CV axle kits which are widely known to be shiver!

Wolf Creek are now the seller of Beta Motorsports side axles now that Beta Motorsport is no more.

They are much better quality than the CVs (i know as i have had a set of the cvs) and are a proven product. The whole development process is over on hybridz.

No, but they are about 30 years old and from a performance car.

  • I picked up my 4.3 LSD for $250 which had done just over 100,000kms
  • Range of ratios and centres from the factory - 3.5, 3.9, 4.1, 4.3
  • Easier to find
  • 4 plate clutch pack in the mechanical centre opposed to 2 in the R200s
  • It weighs 5kg less and an R200

I'm not saying that there is anything wrong with using an R200 and for anyone making really big torque numbers I would go an R200. I'm running a subi setup behind the L34 making 400nm of torque and i think it will survive fine from what i have read.

It kinda comes down to this guy's setup more than anything, how much torque, weight and intended use.

R200 short nose out of R33 GTS-Ts and Z32 N/As are also a good option.
