Hi my 240z has an issue its firing out of the carbs and sounds like its running on 3-6 cylinders sometimes i feel suction out of the carbs closer tot the engine other times i dont and when i accelerate its backfires

Yeah start with timing (do you have a timing light?), do a compression test also to see if any of the cylinders are lower on compression.

 

What are you running SU's? Triples?

 

What distributor do you have points based or electronic?

 

More details my friend. We need more.

240z su carbs 3 screw top twin l 28 block and yes I have a timing light will give that a go I'll check this afternoon it was running fine then I came back after 2 months and it's missing

I would change the plugs sounds they have fueled up

Check and make sure the firing order and the plug / dizzy cap all match. Has someone played with the leads? But first as said, timing! Probably do all of that before you try and start again..

found the problem or should i say problems. the leads were mixed dont know how or who... but fixed that plugs were fouled bad replaced points have been adjusted and carb float was stuck sending in very little fuel sometimes. thank you for for everyones help she starts first time now.
