This is what happens when your beloved classic car loses power. I was driving to work, car lost power pulled into the the left lane, put on hazard lights, checked under bonnet for anything loose, seems okay. Get back into car, have enough sense to put seat belt on and try and restart car. obviously feeling very vulnerable. After a couple

of minutes I hear the worst sound in the world. I look in the mirror to see a blue car pushing me. I spoke to a witness of the accident and the person had accelerated  into me pushing me 100 metres  down the road. This is the first time my car has ever missed a beat, log booked car with only 101K on the clock. It was truly as minty as you could get. Lucky enough I only suffered minor whip lash, but the elderly lady had to go to hospital suffering chest pains and shock. Myself suffering some form of grief, similar to when my 14 year old Labrador died. Shannon's will assess the car on Monday. Police and tow drivers say there is a 99.5 % chance it will be a total lost. So what am I supposed to do now?

Ahh that sucks. Hope the whip lash doesn't develop into something more serious.

Did she slam into you at speed and then proceed to accelerate? How fast was she going?

What car was it?

As to your last question, take the insurance money and buy yourself something even nicer. ;)

If they Total Loss the car, they should offer a payout, they will lowball, unless it was agreed value, if lowball, argue and quote other similar condition cars for sale/sold etc.

Also, painfull, buy it back, you should have option to do so, even if floor inside is kinked, rear gaurds are buckled out, and doors hard to open/close, it may well be repaired.

Don't worry about Written Off Register, many have come back from the dead.

After all, Nissan are not making anymore!

Hopefully you have full comprehensive insurance, if not, nothing you can do, other insurance company will low ball you, and your stuck with their offer.

about 10 years ago someone Hit me and wrote off my car, i had a S13 Silvia K's, 2.0L turbo manual, top of the range model, it was worth 12k.

I only had 3rd party, so my payout was from the other insurance company, they went off redbook value, said the car was only worth 6k, and that was my payout. Back then, 6k could only buy you a non turbo, automatic model.

I was out of pocket half the value of the car, and i couldn't buy another one with the money i got.

I sent the insurance company every single advertisement in the trading post and on the internet, about 50 ad's total, showing that turbo manual models started from 10k, they didn't budge i was stuck with my payout. The only thing they offered, was that i didn't have to buy back my wreck, which would have only been $300 anyway.

Its one of those situations where you get shafted and there is nothing you can do.

Hopefully it wasn't a dato you were in, good luck.

Rudolf.

If you are with Shannon's and have agreed value, you should also have option to buy salvage. As mention you could repair it, or buy another depending on how you feel about it.

I hate it when this happens to classic cars, no doubt the old lady was driving a standard run of the mill model too....

Several Zeds have shown up recently for sale, which all have their merits. I guess it depends on how determined you are to have your car back vs another Zed.

I get funny when a car has been smacked hard. I'd rather try find an accident clear 1, but with enough work and expertise anything can be put back as good as new.

Eric Bana's Falcon was pretty far gone, as far as I'm aware she's good as new again after it was put into trees in Tassie.

With enough money you can achieve anything!

So is it sentimental value to you or could you just buy another?

Pictures will help us also of course.

Well that's actually pretty bad, my advice would be to get the car back but be honest with yourself all the time while trying to get it back. Would you like the outcome?
