NZeder Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 Guys I am looking for a supplier of the factory front spoiler - this was an option for some markets and factory fitted in others (ie New Zealand seen to have a few of these fitted from the factory like my old red 240z). These were made from urethane but a fibre glass replica is ok by me. Here is a pic of a replica and here is a pic of the urethane factory item installed on my old NZ new 1971 240z (light no the best to show the chin spoiler but you can see it) Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 8, 2013 Administrators Posted October 8, 2013 Hey mate, I have 1 of these in the garage I'm not using. I haven't sold it because I kinda like it but don't want to drill holes to fit it. When are you next in Australia? I'm now living in Sydney but plan to be back in Melbourne around Christmas time etc.. I believe Len Brennan used to have a mould of these also and was selling them. I can't find his Z-car website but I found this. http://www.len-brennan.com.au/Contact.htm *edit found this on archive.org. http://web.archive.org/web/20130409152648/http://len-brennan.com.au/ZProducts.html Same fella, hope he's still doing well also! I haven't spoken to him in a while. He has an account here but not sure he would be checking his PMs etc.. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 8, 2013 Administrators Posted October 8, 2013 By the way I have seen that spoiler fitted to the UK market cars although I'm not sure they are actually exactly the same shape... The 1 on the 240z you previously had looks more like the UK version, where as the picture of the part you posted looks more like the 1 Len Brennan's website has and I have. Quote
NZeder Posted October 8, 2013 Author Posted October 8, 2013 They will be the same - the urethane items have a bit of movement in them so depends on age and mounting - but they do look like the one Len had/has. Quote
Agno Posted October 8, 2013 Posted October 8, 2013 I have a urethane one, cracked and on the floor of my garage. If they are factory fit that's awesome! The mounting holes on mine are all crooked so I don't know if it was original to the car but there are no other holes on the spoiler/front air dam to prove otherwise. Can these urethane ones be repaired? I really like it and I'd like to fix it and throw it back onto the car if possible Quote
NZeder Posted October 9, 2013 Author Posted October 9, 2013 FYI Len can provide the replica items still - will take him a few weeks to get around to making them but can still supply for those in Oz this is one option. I believe I might have found a source locally here in NZ - I will know more before the end of the week. I also might have found a genuine item locally here in Auckland that I will be checking out tomorrow after work. The UK all in one items are ok on price - available from MJP aka Mike http://www.mjpshop.co.uk however shipping is the killer at 3 x the cost of the item. So hoping the local supplier can still produce/supply as they are in Christchurch so shipping from the South Island to North Island will be cheaper than from Australia or UK Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 19, 2013 Administrators Posted October 19, 2013 Did you manage to source this in the end? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 23, 2013 Administrators Posted October 23, 2013 Hi Mike, I was trying to find them earlier and couldn't, but looking for something else today I stumbled across these, hooray! I still think it's different to the UK spec 1, this has more of an aggressive lip on it. Quote
NZeder Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 You are right it is larger than the urethane factory item. I have one of the factory items needs a restore Quote
NZeder Posted November 18, 2013 Author Posted November 18, 2013 Actually Gav not sure if that is larger - just the way you have it sitting. I found some of the best pics I have seen showing the factory Urethane chin spoiler. This car is question is located in a museum in Munich - it is also the first time I have seen a LHD 260z that is not USA spec - ie just like our AU/NZ/UK as normal bumpers - but does have the lower valances without the turn signals. Anyway here you can see the it much clearer and it looks like this has never seen the sun/weather as the chin spoiler is perfect condition. Quote
dat240z Posted November 18, 2013 Posted November 18, 2013 Not sure if already posted, buton Ebay they had the exact same style (but with split in centre for postage) at $50 yesterday.... Quote
