MATTY Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 So for the last few months ive been toying around with the idea of a new daily. now as a daily most people usually want something cheap and economical. not me im affraid i need and i quote www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygBP7MtT3Ac so that brings me to my next deleima what will i replace my 180sx with. An S15 maybe? yeah i could do but then again its a newer 180sx more or less. a GTR would be nice but most 32 GTR's are getting long in the tooth and will need some work to clean and refresh things. i wont own a 33 GTR period as the are the fat girl of the skylines, yeah they may be fun to drive only until your friends find out :/ hahah and sadly 34's are still too dear and some are also getting up there price and KM's wise. now previously having owned a Z32 even with OEM leather shift knob and boot its always the simple things that make the most difference. id consider another one in an instant IF it was a slick top and a manual.(picky i know but the targas are a bit wanky and are an extra weight addition i dont need its only 30kg extra odd but still) 3,310 lb (1,501 kg) 2 seater twin-turbo hard top compared to 3,373 lb (1,530 kg) 2 seater twin-turbo T-top every little bit helps. but again the age is holding me back unless i could find a 2k spec zed. oh did i mention it has to be a nissan?? im a fanboy at heart so that leaves the only logical choice why not a 350Z. being n/a is a little bit of a draw back but they are pretty good out of the box from factory also these days TT kits are reasonably cheap and and problems should have been worked out and problem free providing its fitted and tuned by someone who know what they are doing. plus the advantage of having only one seat for a passenger is perfect. which leaves me with trying to move the 180sx to fund the new zed. at this stage im not too picky but it has to be manual and preferably the track edition with under 100000km on the clock and red if i can help it, so it matches my 260z of course so out of curiosity has any one here got anything to ad or say im open to all ideas and suggestions Cheers Matty Quote
260DET Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 The later 350Z with the HR engine and modified gearbox is a much better car than the earlier one. Quote
juz0 Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Buy a cube! then get the super charger kit for it I think there is a C35 Laurel for sale on carsales too. that would be pretty cool although getting parts if it broke would be a mission... being 1 of 2 in the country Quote
MATTY Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 The later 350Z with the HR engine and modified gearbox is a much better car than the earlier one. indeed from what i heard they are far better plus i think they also came out with the twin intake from factory. Buy a cube! then get the super charger kit for it I think there is a C35 Laurel for sale on carsales too. that would be pretty cool although getting parts if it broke would be a mission... being 1 of 2 in the country every time i think about a modded cube taking a corner it reminds me of a reliant robin taking a corner hahah dont think i could handle driving one :/ But DAYYYAAAMMMM that laurel looks pretty mint, but from what i can gather it was originally auto. Retro Z Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Have you considered a Nissan skyline v36 370gt coupe? My missus just bought one for 24k and its much nicer inside and out in comparison to my brother in laws 35th anniversary yellow 350z and feels faster too. Has practically the same engine (abit larger) and 2 small rear seats and paddle shift option. Quote

Agno Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Dude, you drive an s13. Doesn't get much more stereotypical than that. Plus fully sick drifters don't drive v35/36 skylines. I vote late model v6 stagea with a turbo/supercharger on it. Quote
Mr Camouflage Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Wait until December to see what Nissan's answer to the BRZ/86 looks like. Apparent its being revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show. Quote

HAHA so true! it'll end up like on top gear where it flipped over going around every corner I think like most of the wagon/sedans they started out as auto's. like toyota chasers. Those late model stagea's that Agno mentioned are pretty cool too. Like he said though you'd probably need a turbo or supercharger to make it special. then fit the paddle shift kit and it will be sweet Quote

I vote late model v6 stagea with a turbo/supercharger on it. But Drifting's cool right?! i didnt even think of the late/newer model stags. even though they look like a volvo it would be quite the sleeper. Those late model stagea's that Agno mentioned are pretty cool too. Like he said though you'd probably need a turbo or supercharger to make it special. then fit the paddle shift kit and it will be sweet yeah some of the flash TRD chasers came out as a factory manual my mates got one. an auto cube by its self would be a bit gutless but. Wait until December to see what Nissan's answer to the BRZ/86 looks like. Apparent its being revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show. hmm it will be interesting as i drove the new turbo SSS pulsar and wow was it fun to drive...............................NOT Quote
CroS13 Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 If you consider a Stag, it has to be the 260RS model, for GTR running gear and RB26. What about a JZX100? or maybe abit too old. Rudolf. Quote
Fairlady Z Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 S15 be bang for the buck expecialy jap Spec aero model if u can find a nice one. I find 350z quite ugly when you drive next to it.front part of the car disapears and looks like its missing its front end. 370 craps all over it. Also the 180 and s15 with light mods will blow it to weeds. Yeah i say wait till dec see what nissans answer to ft86 which i wish it had nissan badge and turbo straped . driven all of them for longer than 10min. Must say r33 gtr with bit of boost was my favourite besides the fat arse. Red is rare and looks tough.go for s3 But s15 handling and sr20det performance is cheap still awesome looking Just my 2c worth Quote
benny Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 dont know what the story is here... looks to be real and i guess would be the new gti-r (hopefully awd with more power then the sss) Quote
MATTY Posted August 16, 2013 Author Posted August 16, 2013 dont know what the story is here... looks to be real and i guess would be the new gti-r (hopefully awd with more power then the sss) I hope they release a new GTiR but sadly it might be a bit out of my price range too, and yeah the new pulsar are poo. If you consider a Stag, it has to be the 260RS model, for GTR running gear and RB26. What about a JZX100? or maybe abit too old. Rudolf. yeah i thought about the stags too but once again its hard to find one with out high kms and actually a manual, never been a fan of autos. i would get a chaser but ive driven my mates and it was ok but im trying to steer away from luxo barges and family carriers :/ Quote
juz0 Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Any luck finding a Z32? or have we all just confused you by saying you should get this and that? Quote
MATTY Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 Any luck finding a Z32? or have we all just confused you by saying you should get this and that? I forgot how to potato but in all seriousness ive been looking in to the newer model stags but i dunno yet just have to keep looking ans see what best presents its self. Quote
juz0 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 was there any manual late model stags? I've driven one of the older ones with the rb25.. it was a land boat with a slush box so I didnt buy it. the guy wanted to straight swap for my s15! I haven't driven a newer one but I've heard they are way way better than the old ones. I'm biased though. I say get an s15 I've had mine for 6 years and had jack all wrong with it. All i've had to replace is the starter motor and the steering wheel airbag (common problem) but in your case coming from a 180sx it wouldnt be much of a change. just newer Quote
MATTY Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 they are all auto from what ive seen so far i had and RS 260 up my ass awhile back and it was keeping up pretty well with me ( but then again mine no power house haha) and it looked pretty menacing in the rear view mirror. i ive heard a few people say the 6 speed is abit weak if you are putting some power through them?? but ive seen a few decent examples for sale but ill just bid my time and like i said see what pops up Quote
juz0 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 They do look pretty good when they've got a good body kit on them. Thats why I was looking at them. I saw a couple of mean looking ones. If you beefed up the RB it'd go hard like any skyline. The s15 6 speed does have its flaw with the 3rd/4th retainer circlip but it comes down to how you drive more than anything. I read about it heaps and heaps because I was worried about it. Some guys with decent HP numbers still had their 6 speeds with no problems. If your going to put a bigger turbo and go drifting its not that great. if you put cheap tires on and go drifting with stock turbo its fine. GKTECH has nearly finished development of an alloy bellhousing to fit a z32 or r33 gearbox to an SR. plus there is all the adapter kits. all money and time in the end. I didnt change my 6 speed because i've still got stock turbo. its just running on 1 bar boost. no probs. if you get an s15 with the 6 speed, you could always swap it for a 5 speed then fit the 6 speed to your Z Quote
MATTY Posted August 18, 2013 Author Posted August 18, 2013 Hmm my mate gives me shit about nissans apparent 3rd gear problems with gearboxes or so he says lol. yeah could swap out the boxes but if anything id fit the Z32 box to the S15 if i got one and keep the 6 speed as a spare as ive got 2X 280ZX 5 speeds sitting in the shed as is. if the stupid engine swap laws werent changed id consider a 1UZ swap in a busted as S13/180 for shits and gigs too Quote
260DET Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 A nice late model turbo Z31 two seater has potential but most people would not have the patience or money to get one right. Dark colour, wide wheels Quote
