Hi All,

 

Jason from Sydney here. Currently looking to buy my first z car - probably a 260z 2x2. 

 

I have an absolutely ton of research to do as I've not done much mechanical work myself  so plenty of searching to do on this forum! Think I will get a shop to actually work on the car once I've bought it and done some kms to get a feel for the car and what I want out of it.

Another good thing to arm yourself with is a Workshop manual for the zed.. Don't be scared to tackle it yourself. The book is there to help!

So I have a budget of around 22K. I want to pick up a nice clean 260Z bus with as little rust as possible (don't we all  ) and want to completely recondition the engine from scratch. Is that a feasible budget? What would be a good split on purchase price to resto costs? I know it completely depends on what you want done to the engine and who does it, but just want a rough idea for now and whether or not I'm in the ballpark.

 

I'm in no rush to buy the car. I'm only looking in NSW atm so I figure it might be 6-12 months before I find what I'm after.

With a budget like that you should have no trouble finding a high end and well restored 2+2, when it comes up for sale that is.
