  2. Selling my 1975 260Z 2+2. Selling as I need some emergency cash. Here is my rather brief thread on these forums: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/10583-jasonmacs-260z-22-carannuation/ Purchase as a registered vehicle in June 2013, I drove it until the rego ran out in March 2014. Planned to do a full resto but time and money ran out. Colour: Light Blue Chassis: GRS30005818 Engine: matching L26 July 2013 Stewart Wilkins did auto to manual conversion with SR20 gearbox + diff. Interior seats and centre console have been removed. Centre console has original radio. I have some replacement seat trim (black with white stitching) which will look awesome when installed. Some linkages have been removed from the engine, but I have all parts. Perfect project car. Priced at $6500. Need some emergency cash so can negotiate for a cash/part cash sale. Only listed here until 2nd April when I will list further online. Jason
  3. Stewart Wilkins put a SR20 gearbox in my blue bus. Takes some mods and was $$$ but was really happy with it.
  4. Well she has been off the road since 2013 and I've pulled together some money so time to start stripping her down and doing some work. Some small stuff I've done: - Hilux 4-spot calipers purchased and reconditioned and powder coated at Automotive Brake Reconditioning (Sydney). Also have the DBA rotors. - New seat covers from Kalid's purchased back in 2013 - black with white stitching. I'm fitting these now. I had a lot of fun driving it when it was on the road. This is the current set up: - Matching # L26 engine - round top SU carbs - points distributor - E88 head Giving the matching engine #, budget and modest street requirements, the current plan is to keep the L26 and: - strip and hot tank block - sonic test and see what bore is possible. Weight up performance benefits vs cost. - flat top pistons - cam (no idea what yet, Sydney traffic friendly) - electronic distributor & new coil (thinking Scorcher but not sure if this is overkill for me) - recondition existing round top SU carbs - dyno tune - not sure what I should do with the E88 head if anything Going to work with James from MIA. Dash is out but Dashboard Doctor is quoting $650 . Called another trimming place in Sydney and they said they send to the Dashboard Doctor. Might just have to take the hit and send to DD.
  5. Thanks for the input Going with the 3/8 Lok-On set as an initial starting point. Cheers, Jason
  6. Was looking at buying the following socket set. Any experience with the Lok-On range? Noob questions: Is 3/8" what I'm after Is a metric only set what I need? LOK-ON™ SOCKET SET 45 PIECE 3/8" SQUARE DRIVE (K27013) Cheers, Jason
  7. I installed a new contact set, rotor and distributor cap and she kicked straight into life
  8. Big thanks to PB for coming out to help
  9. Definitely tried cranking for a while, battery is now low so recharging. Will try advice given once the battery is charged again. Thanks for the suggestions. PB, thanks a ton for the offer of help. I have sent a PM. Cheers, Jason
  10. Car has been sitting around for 6 months and I need to start it now. The engine cranks but doesn't want to cough into life. I have a fresh tank of fuel and a new battery. I have taken the spark plugs out, they all looked good, no deposits or wear. Cranked the engine with them out, put them in again with same result. Appreciate any suggestions for a newb. Cheers Jason
  11. Sans body moldings: Came off really easy and cleanly, except for one spot D'Oh!
  12. Awesome, thanks for that!
  13. Here is a photo of the switches in my '75 2+2. It's looking rather non-standard! Some have no effect (that I know of!). Does anyone have a pic of the original layout of the switches (hazard, demist etc)? I've seen some 240z pics online but not sure if the bus has the same layout. Other than ebay where can I buy missing switches and indicators from? Thanks, Jason
  14. Yep, that would have been mine. Was there for a few weeks Def keen for a cruise, haha 2 blue buses! Drove her around Sat and she went well. Tried to start her this morning and she was completely dead. No sound at all when I turn the iginition so I'll have to grab a new battery
  15. Auto to manual transmission conversion is complete Stewart Wilkins did the work for me. We ended up putting in a SR20 gearbox + diff keeping in mind a future engine upgrade will happen. He also replaced some water hoses as they were in poor nick and one split during a test drive. He said he simplified the hosing and also cleaned the K&N filters on the SU carbs. I’ve put in hotter sparkplugs and changed the oil + filter and with the above the engine is now idling very smoothly compared to when I got her . After Stewart’s test drive he said he was surprised how well she revved out and no tune is urgently required; best to drive her for a while to see what I think. That first drive home as a manual was just fantastic fun. She really did sound nice revving out and the L26 + twin SU carbs will be enough fun to keep me entertained for a while. Next step will be lowered King springs + Koni Red's and some new bushes. I'm finding the handling quite sloppy.

    280zx dizzy

Looking for an 280zx Electronic Distributor. Cheers. Jason
  17. Peter, any more word on whether the course is going ahead? Apparently I'm "on the list" but haven't heard current status. Cheers, Jason
  18. OK, so this is embarrassing, but who gives a shit... I haven't driven a manual for 20 years I'm about to do the auto to manual conversion soon on my zed and as none of my mates are driving manuals now (they've moved onto family wagons) I decided to take a refresher lesson on the weekend. I enjoyed it heaps and picked it up really easy. What surprised me was how many of the driving "schools" out there offer auto lessons only. Part of getting a zed for me was relearning how to drive and to experience working on the car. I want to be able to teach my own daughter how to drive when she's old enough. I want to work on something myself and to experience the pleasure that brings. Looks like a lot of the kids today aren't interested in these things. Makes me value my new zed even more.
  19. I met Peter last week and checked out the facilities and it was very impressive. I hope to be signing up.
  20. Cheers Yeah, those moldings are on the to go list
  21. Well I am very proud to say that I am now an owner of a ’75 260Z 2+2. The whole buying process was a lot of fun. The PO and his dad were both really nice, they had a heap of other cars they were working on and decided to make some room and sell this one. They had another 2+2 project + multiple other cars. He also had a lot of parts so I picked up almost everything I need to do the manual conversion except for the hydraulic line from master to slave. He threw in the spare L26 engine that was attached to the gearbox. Also got some spare windows + full winding mechanism (current windows have some scratches) and some spare rear quarter Z badges. Engine seems to be running very nice, no major issues evident and the car as a whole has been a lot of fun to drive so far. I took her for a run up to the Blue Mountains today as she went well Some details about the car: 1975 260Z 2+2 Auto Colour: Light Blue Chassis: GRS30005818 Engine: L26, Head:E88, Dual SUs. New extractors, exhaust, radiator + various other bits. Rego: Expires March 2014. Interior: Poor condition with original radio. Multiple large cracks in the dash. Speedo works, but tach and fuel gauge don’t. Body: Small dent front bumper, some small various rust spots, no doubt will uncover a lot more when body work begins. Plans for the car: Project: Carannuation Superannuation: you invest money in various securities with hopes of future positive returns. Carannuation: you invest money in your classic car with no hope of future positive returns however you walk around with a smile on your face. This will be a street build. Short to medium term plans (in order of priority): Drive the car – get to know it and enjoy it Manual conversion Disc brakes ugrades Suspension upgrades New wheels Long term: L28 + triples Full strip back to bare metal, all rust repaired and new paint. Thinking silver + black interior with a red trim. Will probably change my mind 100 times. Full interior refresh I met with fellow forum member PeterAllen this week at St. George TAFE and checked out their Vehicle Restoration course and facilities. Looked very impressive. Hopefully I might be able to enrol next course starting July. [/img]
  22. For Chrome users I use the following rapid shortcut so I don't need to type "site:viczcar.com" every time: First, you'll want to copy the following slice of code: {google:baseURL}search?{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding}&q=site:viczcar.com %s Then you want to right-click the Chrome search box and click on Edit Search Engines. Now scroll down and add the name of the site (viczcar.com), followed by a short keyword - I use the letter 'z'. Now paste in the piece of code from above in the URL box. Now go back to the browser, tap your keyword (e.g. z) followed by a space, and you'll see Chrome prepare to search just this site.
  23. As another Sydneysider I'm enjoying reading your project. Nice work!
  24. Yeah Sydney totally depends on the $$$. Feel free to PM if you want the low-down on any particular suburb. I personally liked the Inner West but I'm a bit further out (near Lidcombe) as I needed a house.
