Hello all

My name is Abhishek.  im 26 and I am a fellow Z lover. The thing that got me into Z cars was the history and lets face it the shape of Zcars are the best!

Im hoping to restore a 240 or 260, so joining the Z car website/ forum seemed like the logical thing to do for support and parts. I hope to meet some of you and learn as much as I can about these beasts.

Ive been tinkering in cars probably the last 8 -10 years. Having owned an R34 and now a S15 . Datsun/ Nissan make pretty damn good cars. But time now to get my hands on a classic to make my own. So im searching far and wide for something to get me started. Sooner rather than later ill have my S15 for sal to help with the funds!

Welcome aboard, yes we all love the zed shape, such a classic. If you have a chance this Easter , try and get down to Phillip Island. The Nissan Datsun Nationals are on. Some of the best Zeds from all over the country will be there. I would recommend the show and shine on Sunday down at the Cowes pier on the esplanade , will be an awesome show. And bring your camera. cheers.

Welcome Aboard

Good luck with the hunt for a Z. I have to agree that the Nationals would be worth the trip, I can't make it though :-(

Cheers

It's interesting how many guys with later more powerful Nissan's are getting into the older S30Z. I recall not that many years ago people didn't want to bother with restoring a Z, now it seems that as they less and less common on our roads more and more people want them.

Welcome abroad and I highly recommend going to the Nationals to get a feel for these great cars and the community.

Id always had interest in the Z family. Although the 300zx was powerful it was sort of eclipsed when the 350z came out. Then i started to wonder on the history, because that sort of thing matter when you are building up or restoring a car. Alot of mates now want a 370z or G35s that run off the same chassis ( only because a GTR is out of their price range :P), and so my natural response to that was what did the early cars look like , whats the story behind them.

In saying that also, GTRs, EVOs, RX7s, NSX etc are all really jap muscle cars. REAL Jap muscle cars were made in the 70s :)

10-12 years ago my mates all loved 180sx, Silvia's, R33's, 300zx's etc.. They thought the Z was cool and enjoyed driving them but nobody had any interest at all in fixing up a rusty old Datsun. Too much effort etc.. They just wanted the go fast now car.

Whilst I did like the shape of the 180sx I could never like the interior of them, I just found the dashboard so bland. Perhaps the appeal is it's a blank canvas? But for me I just liked everything about the 60s and early 70s in terms of car design. For me the 240z has always felt like the next best thing to owning an old 60s Ferrari.

I guess the best thing about these cars is that their values go up and as they get older more and more people appreciate them, I'm glad I've hung onto mine all these years. All my mates have changed cars (several times) going for the next big power upgrade and taking out loans to buy them etc.. My car might be taking an eternity to restore but good things come to those with patience I say.

The internet has also helped fuel interest in vintage Japanese cars I think with sits like SpeedHunters and the car culture behind it, have helped move these cars from being under appreciated to getting some much more deserved attention. Although in my mind compared to other cars out there they are still under-valued.

Hope you enjoy the hunt for yours, I still recall my first experience in a 240z.
