Administrators gav240z Posted February 2, 2013 Administrators Posted February 2, 2013 Hi guys, A quick question for you, I bought something on eBay at a good price because I believe the seller listed the item incorrectly - hence I got a good price for a pair of fog lights to suit my RX-7. Before auction ended I asked if he could post to Melbourne (parents address) and he said it was fine. I won auction and then said to him give me the final price for the item + shipping and I'll PayPal you. I was not in a hurry (which I told him at the time) because I was in South Africa for 4 months. So I wasn't in a rush and he said he was busy so hadn't had a chance to go to post office. Now that I've been back I've tried to contact him several times no joy. He won't return my emails. I've not paid for it yet via PayPal, but I get the feeling he copped on to the fact that they were worth more than the price I bought them for on eBay and has sold them off elsewhere. - I read his eBay history and someone left negative feedback saying he sold car after it was won on eBay because he got a better price elsewhere. Can I report him to eBay? any suggestions on what to do? Quote
luvemfast Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I guess you need to give the benefit of the doubt. But. Message him saying unless he replies you can only assume he's trying to pull out of the deal. Which leaves you no choice but to report him to eBay. That's really all you can do isn't it? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 2, 2013 Moderators Posted February 2, 2013 I went through exactly the same thing a little while ago except it was for a flood light. Sent him plenty of messages with no reply, eventualy left him negative feedback. A few people don't care who you take it up with, negative feedback doesn't bother them..all that matters is the more cash he got selling it elsewhere. Quote
RB30X Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 I'm sure this happens to lots of people. If you list an item incorrectly and only one person sees it then the expected bidding war will never happen. Either that or the sale price plus the huge postage, plus the ridiculous eBay fees mean its actually gunna cost him money to send a free item to you. That happened I me once. I've found zed stuff listed on eBay under 'Dadsun' '240 z' 240zx' none of which would show up in a search for 240z. Quote
Retro Z Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 If its been over 3 months you won't be able to go through the Ebay resolution centre. And because you didnt pay via Paypal or at all Ebay won't help you. Sellers are allowed to cancel transactions without your consent after 28 days of non payment. You can try leave feedback, but i think Ebay doesnt allow buyers to leave sellers Negative feedback anymore only the other way around. Also the listing would have cost him money, so you can't really blame him for selling it to someone else or to make room/money etc. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted February 2, 2013 Moderators Posted February 2, 2013 Tai, buyers can leave negative, sellers can't unfortunately.. I've had plenty of "bad" buyers that F you around. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted February 3, 2013 Moderators Posted February 3, 2013 Gav, In my opinion if you went to the ebay resolution centre he would counter saying not paid for and minimal contact for 4 months ..... blah blah blah. Probably best just to move on. Cheers PB Quote

Fairlady Z Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Gav since u havent paid an been so long like said above just move on. Even if it wasnt only thing you could have done is give him negative feedback. Picked up good bargains almost unheard of and was lucky to recieve them all. I pay straight away so that way i lock them in. $28 with postage for hks evc pro boost controler. Resold it for $450. That was a good day. I buy and sell a bit on ebay. Copped a neg feedback after guy was expecting a huge parcel to arrive next day at cheapest possible way. i bent backwards to assist than idiot started being ungreatfull and pain.i had a feeling i get neg feedback so refunded the money and told him to F off. Well at least the bastard didnt get it. Ebay refunded me the fees and gave him a strike for abusive messages. But i cannot get rid of that freaking negative. Freaking bastard. So not fair u cannot give neg to buyers or even neutral. Happy ebaying its good fun Quote
zedevan Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 As it's been said, there's nothing you can do. I had a seller simply change their mind, but proceed to waste my time over a week coming up with random requirements and excuses as to why I couldn't buy it (it was in the US, so I provided him with a US address, then had to get it verified via paypal and it just went on and on) At the end of the day, the most ebay can do is cancel their account, which just means they'd have to open another one Quote
