  1. If the car is pre 1/72 no compliance plate is required. The compliance plate cannot be re-issued. That is what I was told by Qld Transport Dept last year when I enquired. Also if the car has been previousky registered and you have the cassis number, engine number etc, then it is no problem. Get a valid roadworthy and safety certificate and Qld Transport are happy.
  2. Hey Mate, Do you have any of these avialable. PM me some details
  3. Hey Gav, If this comes off I need to get organise some panels as the supply in OZ as you know is getting short. I need the following 240 parts, my car is a Feb/March 73 build Left and right guards Radiator support panel Bonnet An American front spoiler (Cause I like the solid look) Centre console for a series 2 That will do for a start. Cheers
  4. The LD28 is the diesel l series engine, has long inlet runners and a small plenum with large ports for airflow. Uncommon in Oz but reasonably common in NZ
  5. Hi all, I am chasing a LD28 intake manifold in any condition. Will pay freight to QLD. Surely someone out there has one. Don't really want to go to the hassle of getting one from NZ unless someone is heading over there and can bring one back with them.

    My L24 Build

This build is going to be very interesting as I too will be doing a l28 rebuild within the next 12 monyhs or so. I intend to use a LD28 intake manifold with injector ports welded into the manifold for something diffrent.
  7. I have a Series 1 console that need restoration if someone wants to swap
  8. Wtb 240Z Centre Console for a early 1973 in reasonable condition. Who has one they can part with.

  10. Saw a Z on an american site with Engine number of L24-155576 and it says 2/73, so that must be fairly close.

  13. Finally got home and got the Z out of the garage. I have checked the engine number and it apppears that they also give and indication of build dates. The original engine number is L24-155530.
  14. Thanks mate, let me know when you have both together and we can send it all together
  15. Hi Craig, interested in bothbfan upgrade kit and wiper kit, my 240 is early 73
  16. Do you still have this kit, pm me some photos and a list of the rubbers included. Gathering parts now for my z build which I hope to start shortly
  17. Z car on Sunny Coast gone already, early number z cars are not sticking around at all
  18. I will get you a photo next week when I get home.
  19. I will have to check it when I get home next Wednesday, Why would the Engine numberr be a more accurate indication of the build date. It would make more sense for the chassis numbers to be more sequential, due to the fact that the engine blocks are cast in large numbers then stored till the chassis is ready. Perhaps there is a register of them somewhere in this big world. Need to start the old girl up again. Hopefully only about 6 months away on starting the rebuild.
  20. Yeag Gav, I figured as much, This is my 1st 240 but I have had a couple of 260's previous to this. When the guy I bought it off said it was a 70, I told him that it couldnt have been cause its not a series 1 cause of the vents in the A piller and the tool storage boxes behind seats. If an average 72 model comes up I could be tempted to grab one of those to further my collection. I have an 85 factory 5sp z31 (full of the dreaded worm) that I bought for $1 that I am stripping for parts too. Cant have too many Datsuns I reckon. Its the old story of n+1. Russ
  21. It would be nice if it was a feb 73 as that is when my wife was born, I would love to find a July 72 for restoration so we could have a pair.
  22. Hi all, The compliance plate in my 240Z was damaged some time in its past life. It was last registered in 2006 as a 1970 model but I beleive it is either a late 72 or early 73. The edge of the plate has been damaged where the compliance date is. My guess was is that when they went to register it years ago, they had to register it as a 70 model because post Jan 1972 all Australian vehicles were required to have a valid compliance plate. Queensland Transport has said that they have no issues with registering the vehicle again as it has a valid VIN number. I do know its not a 70 model as it is not a series 1. Can anyone help. Its number is HS30-101178 I just want clarification before I start to sink $25k into the rebuild. I cant post a picture of the plate for 2weeks as I am away for work. FIFO takes me away from playing with my toys LOL ☺ Cheers Russ
  23. Hi all, I am after a 240z bonnet and a mesh 432 style grille. Anyone got a reasonable one as mine is totally gone along from lip with the dreaded metal worm.
